Rash developed on head and neck before diagnosed

I'm just curius. I was diagnosed with stage lll ovarian cancer in July of 2005. Since Nov 22, of that year I have been in remission. My question is, does anyone remeber breaking out in a rash anytime before they were diagnosed? I broke out in one a few months before July of that year on my forehead and neck.I'm just wandering because then this might be something other people need to look out for. Thanks, Jean

I sure did have a rash, Jean. It was on the right side of my face and the left side of my neck. I was a regular at the dermotologist. They said it was eczema and I tried a dozen different "potions", got all new sheets, a new vacuum with a hepa filture, new make up, wore no necklaces, changed to non allergic nail polish, got new pillows, saw an allergist......and, in Feb "06, it miraculously went away....and, in the beginning of March, I was diagnosed. I have heard of people gettting shingles, before a reoccurance. In retrospect, I did think that I had the rash because my resistance must of have been so low....but, your the first to make a connection. It will be interesting to see if anyone else responds to this. I was also very stressed at the time and thought that may have contributed......Barb P

Now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, I had a rash on my right side of my mouth. Dermo told me it was roesca (sorry, spelling not so good this early). And, it went away....

Barb, i had the exact same experience. i had a rash about 6 months before i was diagnosed. The first dermatologist didn't help me so i went to another who diagnosed it as Eczema and i had a slew of potions as well. i can remember my head being so itchy i even had a prescription for shampoo. we changed laundry detergents, soaps, everything and i still itched everywhere. he did tell me to get blood work as he thought something else might be going on. i didn't because except for the itching, i felt great. i was also going thru some stress at the time and attributed the itching to that. after my surgery, the itching stopped. I thought there was a coincidence but never read about anyone else having the same problems. So...........we are not alone. very interesting.

This is very wierd..After I was diagnosed, in retrospect, I thought my resistance must have been low and that's why I had the rash......but, maybe there is another connection.....I know people get shingles before a reoccurance, sometimes...(I need to get that vaccine in the next few months!!! )
The only thing I have kept up with as far as the ezcema is non allergic nail polish. I did try Essie one time recently and I started to get a rash again....so I went back to the kind that has no formaldyhide or toulene. So who knows what is going on with our bodies...

In the Dr. Donohue column in our newspaper, there is a section on ezcema this week. It says that "the inflamation is brought about by the immune system reacting to something that remains unknown. Genes definitely are involved." I'm not sure how that relates to all of us, but the immune system part surely could. Barb P

Oh thank you so much.I'm not weird. I did have a talk with another lady when I had my first chemo and she broke out in a rash before she was diagonsted. And this was 2 years ago and it has been bugging me ever since. My doctor told me it was Eczema too. And I was going through stess, I just moved and we had to sell my moms house. This is weird that other people had it too. Jean

Thanks Barb. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I even changed laundry detergents. And soap. Wow . This is very interesting. Jean

I was diagnosed in Jan 2005 with 1C OVC, for years prior, I had a terrible flakiy rash mainly on my scalp. I used every kind of shampoo, lotion I could find, at times the rash was so bad it would bleed. Funny thing was, the only thing that made it go away was Chemo, my last chemo was july 2005, and within a few months it came back. I have been to a dermatologist and do have prescription shampoo and medicine to put on it, it is not as bad as it was before but it is still there. Seems as if I'm now getting immune to the medicine. I have not been back to the dermatolgist yet. Does make you wonder though.
