Off the bat, i have 1c ovca and just did my 3rd dose of taxol and carboplatin. Labor day started with a tickle in my throat, now it is a very annoying cough to take care of it. Even need to cough when i eat, talk and even drink something. Sleeping is a joke.Past monday had a small temp that lasted to tuesday. Also had a plain tenaniss shot because of lawn mower on sunday. Oncologist doesn't seem to be alarmed told me to keep and eye on temp. My counts are great and every thing else is good. Do have a thyriod goiter but on medication for that and it is not cancerous. Thats all the info. You ladies are awesome on advice and i just dont know what to do its annoying and i have had enough. I am trying allergy medicine and a humidifier in my room to sleep. Advice please! My other choice i guess is to follow up with my family doctor. This has been going on for 10days now. I know its minor and i shouldn't even complain but it so annoying and i don't know what to do? Thanks so much keep fighting!!

I recall a tickle and then a cough in the early treatments. They went away over time. It is annoying though and I was always trying to soothe it with tea, puddings and cough drops.

Watch your temperature. You don't want it to get too high. I had a temp a few times. Getting sick was always my fear. Cold and flu season is coming up. Use hand wash OFTEN! I carried it everywhere!

I am on the same meds and have had the same symptoms the entire time. My last treatment is next week! I just hope it gets better after I finish.

I'm ten months past my final treatment and I found with time, all of the side effects I had went away.

About midway through my chemo, I experienced sinus drainage and raw throat and a temp of 100. I didn't think it was a cold but even so, with the constant drainage I was afraid it would settle in the bronchial tubes and cause infection or pneumonia. I've been that route before so I knew the progression it could take.

So I called my Onc and he suggested an OTC decongestant or antihistimine....sorry, I can't remember which. In a day my sinuses cleared up and that was the end of it. The condition did not return.

Should you see your family doc? If it's been 10 days. Yes, that's exactly what I would do. Doc can diagnose whether this is cold or sinus allergy, and can recommend whatever you need to clear it up.

I did not sleep at all the first six weeks of treatment. I was tired, miserable and quite grouchy. WHen I told the Dr I needed some sleep, they gabe me a sleeping pill. It is wonderful to wake up after a good nights sleep to face a new day. THe side effects did not go away but at least I am rested. THe body can not fight if it does not have rest. I will worry about stopping the pills after CHemo.
