My mom has MS and the docs say she has a tumor behind her eye (don't know if cancerous yet.)Anyway what do you think my odds are? I have an apt with a gyn soon. Umm I have a lot of pain down in that area weird bowel movements no periods for 6 months at atime no birth control, lots of pressure on diaphram etc....

Hi,
I'm BRCA1 positive and have recurrent ovarian cancer. Two of my 3 daughters are also positive. One is currently in treatment for breast cancer and the other is having a prophylactic mastectomy next month. They were told that they have to have their ovaries removed by the age of 40 (twins - not identical - 34). Our oldest daughter was spared the mutation. There are many different gene mutations. The one we have is connected to ovarian, breast and prostate. There is one that links ovarian and colon. I'm going to throw in my opinion, for whatever that's worth. With all the cancer in the family, don't wait. Visit a genetic counselor, discuss your family situation and decide whether or not to be tested. My daughters refused to be after I was found to be positive until one got breast cancer. In her case, it would not have made a difference because the time frame was too short between my results and her diagnosis anyway, but it could make a difference with you. First make sure you followup with the gyn appointment and that he/she knows everything so that you can have any testing needed and then think about the genetic counseling/testing. Good luck and God bless.
Linda

Thank you I will try that.

I think you are looking for Lynch Syndrome information. My insurance won't pay for the test even though my family reads like a textbook case.
