Problems with excess hair?

1 Recommendation

Since I am through with my chemo, my hair is trying to grow back, and that is all good. Even my eyelashes, are coming back with more than before and lots thicker. But so are my eyebrows and some facial hair! Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything that can be done? Plucking is so time consuming!

Nair for facial hair sensitive skin.

According to others, the facial hair abates in about 6 months. I felt like I was turning into a werewolf.

I would not say that I am more hairy now than before but I must say that my eyelashes seem longer. I like that very much!

I think our hair follicles go nuts for a while. They are trying to overcompensate for no hair, so they make too much. It will normalize with time. My eyelashes and eyebrows have actually gone through several cycles.

Thanks for your replys! LOL MinnieM, that is what I feel like sometimes, just like a werewolf. I do like that I have a lot more eyelashes, and it seems hair on my head too, but the rest I can do without!

Yeah, I finished chemo in the end of May and in the end of June started hair regrowth.... I still have the longest arm hair ever :) I've started shedding hair again finally, which is weird to be excited about but I guess it's a sign of normality... My eyebrows came in super thick and all over the place, they fell out again a few weeks ago and are coming back in VERY slowly... Eyelashes are still lopsided-the right side is way thicker and longer than the left, even though they too are coming back in a second time and I thought they would've evened out this time.

I had facial fuzz, it's finally normalizing.. It took a while and it was strange to be so wooly feeeling/looking. I like the Nair idea!

My husband made monkey sounds at me with my facial hair,,I got it waxed which was painful but worked. I have one eyebrow, both grew back and with weekly taxol, one fell out. Lashes are thin and hair is growing but little flea bitten I think. And very curly.

I certainly didn't miss shaving my legs but now I seem to be making up for lost time or something, it seems I'm shaving a couple of times a week.

boy Iam glad you brought this subject up I was always hairy but now I have hair in places I dont want it like my rearend WHAT THE HECK. How do I get rid of it with out waxing or shaving. HELP LOL LOL LOL. Its been a year and 9 months since fist round of chemo but now Iam on the recurring chemo wih number 3 just finished.

Ya, what is up with that! My eyebrows are like Brooke Shields in the 80's! Plus, I have this white peach fuzz on my face...like a premature baby! Holy cats! I'm like a human fur ball!

Patricia123- I already said this one...but one night I went to bed and must have been sleeping face down, on the right side! The next morning my right eyebrow was completely gone! I had to think if I had been out on a good bender and someone shaved it off!

Eyelashes are so thick and long....one huge positive. Don't tell me that they are going to thin out! I didn't complain about the free Brazilian either!

You ladies are great! LOL Patricia, monkey sounds? OMG!!! I would have had to hit him!

Lifeisgrand...I have not missed the shaving the legs or even under the arms either, it was great while it lasted!

loveoneanother...LOL! On your rearend? That would be kind of hard to have to twist around to shave or wax that....

wright2fight...I think my eyebrows are looking like ugly Betty's...I feel like a human fur ball too, and sometimes like a hairball a cat spit up.

Oh yea, and sometimes I think I would like to be back on chemo to get rid of it all again....may happen, cancer is not gone, and doc isn't ruling out anything for future treatment. Not really wanting back on chemo, would rather have the hair than hurt like that.

The last couple of posts have me cracking up. So what is it about hair. We all know going in that we're going to lose our hair. The hair on our head that is. But what about the rest of it. I never lost my eyebrows or eyelashes or the hair on my arms but I didn't shave my legs for months, there is no hair in my nose which makes it a little odd when you get a cold... lol... and well my bottom was as bare as a baby's. Now I don't think many people notice the hair on the butt end but when it's gone well hello you do notice that and when it starts coming back well holy cow how do you talk about that? I've got to love you ladies for not being afraid to say the things we're all thinking about. One day my 16 year old son mentioned that perhaps I needed to consider shaving as I was starting to look like a werewolf. My husband wanted to grab him by the shirt collar and take him to the woodshed but I just laughed. It's so true. Now where is that hairbrush?

Hair is weird...my head looks like a chia pet, i have fuzz on my face and my earlobes of all places but no pubes. not that i mind that at all lol

Yall are all making me laugh.

But now, as old as old fashioned as I am, I have to say I understand Brazilian waxes. I know why people get them but am much too modest to do so. You would think after all this, my modesty would be nil but it is still there. Wonder if my gyn onc would wax it while he is "down there"

ANd if my butt gets all hairy I am going to flaunt it to the primate who lives with me!!

I looked like a werewolf and it was really bad. I have very pale skin and dark brown hair. I trimmed and bleached. I think it went away after a couple of months.

Hair! They warned us about losing it. They didn't warn us about growing it back...all over. I had peach fuzz all over my face. And, Ladies, I've shaved three times. That was really weird, looking in the mirror with my face lathered up, screwing up my face to get to all the places. LOL

Finally the facial growth appears to have slowed down. In the meantime the hair atop my head is barely 3/4 inch long and lies flat, totally flat. Can't get it to fluff up for anything.. But I'm not complaining. No, indeedy, this is a good part of the journey. Bless all of you. Thanks for the giggles this morning.

OMG! I am busting a gut reading all of this! I am so going back upstairs to check out if I have hair on my butt! There is a sentence that I never thought that I would say or write! Good gravy, chia pet is a term that I often use to describe my hair coming back in! All of a sudden my hair is super curly! I just want another couple of inches, that is what all women say, so that I can spike it up. Besides being gray, I'm never going to complain! My husband keeps telling me that soon we will have matching his and her hair!

Chia Pet Story.....
Just to jack with my middle school students...one day I stashed a long dreadlock wig in a huge storage room. During class I walked out and came back in with it on! I told the kids that holy cats, I put two drops of water on my head and instantly grew hair! They couldn't keep it together for the rest of the class period.

I have been laughing so hard at all these posts...I am reading them while at work and they think I have lost it! Thank you all so much for the laughs! We need them as we go through our journey.

wright2fight...love that story about the dreadlocks!

sckada...like you, I have very pale skin with dark brown hair, well, a lot of white is growing back with the dark brown, lol. So it is very easy to see the extra hair growth.

Funny, I have not checked my behind for any hair, have to do that now...will have to check that out when I get home.

kennebec...right now my hair is about 3/4" long, and sticks straight up...can't get it to lay down for anything,

I can't believe I am sharing this but....my pubic hair came back straight!!!!! What???? The hair on my head came back curly, and the hair "down there" is straight!!! Anyone have this happen to them? Does it change in time? So far I just keep getting rid of it! It is too......chimp-like to keep!! LOL hope you are laughing...........

Hi,

I had the same. Hair growing on my face. I used a hair removal cream for facial hair. I used it twice and it eased up.
