Crazy here....some of you may have read my post a couple days ago about my ca125 rising while on this vaccine study. Now, yesterday, I felt a lump below my left rib and I am so worried. No pain, just a lump. Are there lymphnodes there? It is about 2 inches below my left rib and 4 inches over from my belly button. (It is not in quite in line with my belly button, it is slightly higher. Seems like the size of a nickle? What in the heck could this be? I am sick to my stomach worrying, of course. Anyone else have this? Thanks, Kim

Don't panic yet. Get it checked right away by the doctor. It could be a benign lump. I have lived through many a horror thinking of the worst case scenarios. I had a lump in my vaginal area which turned out to be benign. And if it is the worst case scenario of cancer, it does not always mean it is not treatable and curable. I will keep you in prayer. Cindy

There are lymph nodes all over your body, but Do NOT try to diagnose yourself. Call your doctor and get it checked properly. Let's hope you get good news.

I agree.

Let us know.

I have the same problem exactly he same place but the cat scans shownothing. the doc says its nodes so iam notso worried. they do go and then come back.iam reacurring with cancer an ijust had my 2nd round of chemo. good luck toyou. Paula

Hi there. Do you feel it? As in - if you are slumped over, can you feel it kind of in the way? I had that, still do (in the area that you mention)......and my nurse practitioner examined the area thoroughly and said it is my floating rib........felt no abnormalities or lumps of any kind but could feel my floating rib which she said sometimes sits in a funny place and we can see it, or feel it...........could it be something like that?

I am going to have my oncologist check it out of course........but it did make me feel better, for now anyway..............

I know how horrible it is to worry.......I would make an appointment asap.......it is easier to know what is going on than to let your mind go crazy with possibilities.........

Take care, let us know how it goes.

Thanks everyone...Doc said he is not sure what it is at this point. He names several benign things but said he cannot be sure that it is not a nodule from the cancer. He said it felt about 1cm in size in the wall of my abdomen...right with the muscle. I have 2 more vaccine shots...they end 10/14 and I go back 10/12 for another ca125. If it is high he said we will do a pet scan. He said we could do something sooner if I would like, but I think it makes sense to wait until the vaccines are done...only a couple of weeks. Thanks again for your care and support through this hard time. :)Kim

Hi Kim,

Did your CA-125 rise in your latest test? I am not sure what the lump could be but you received good replies. I plan to check out our lymph node system... Amazing how things change in a matter of days! I would definitely get a PET scan even if the CA-125 stays the same. It would put your mind at ease and would answer what that lump could be.

So sorry you are going through this and you certainly have a lot of support! Just continue to think positive!
I will keep you in my thoughts and send positive vibes...
Pam

Hi Pam...I think when I saw you here in Raleigh I had the 38 result. Then I thought Duke was going to draw one yesterday when I received my vaccine, but they did not. So, plan is now to get it drawn on Oct. 12th. I have to have an imaging study done for Duke at the end of the vaccines...which is Oct 14th...so we will just coordinate that.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Did your physician mention that it could be a ventral hernia?

Hi Shamrock....No, what does that feel like?

I have a ventral hernia. It showed up as that on a CT scan back in April and just before the scan I found the bulge. It is located about an inch above and left of my navel. I can push it in a bit when standing but cannot locate it when sitting or lying on my back.No pain or discomfort. My gyn onc surgeon said that if it becomes a problem he will likely operate--it can cause obstruction --part of the small and large bowel were seen inside at my last Ct scan in September.

hhmmmm...mine is located about an inch above my belly button, but a little further to the left than yours. I also cannot feel it when I lay down. Gosh that would be a great answer. I had been working hard out on my deck a couple weeks ago and the next day I had some stomach pain that lasted for 2 days and went away. Then a week later I find this. I read that the hyrnia can cause pain like I had. Thanks for the info...I am sure hoping it is that or something like that.
:)Kim

Kim,
Can you push it in--I can and it disappears until I bend or move side to side and then it pops out again.

No, I don't think it disappears. It is harder to find at times though...seems different after I push on it but it does not go away.

What is the feeling of yours...is it soft, rubbery, hard? About how big would you say?
:)Kim

It feels hard but pushes in easily.--it's about an inch in diameter......gee this is starting to sound x-rated.... LOL

Funny! Yes, mine is sort of hard...not mushy or not rock hard but moves easily as well. Time will tell. I can't thank you enough for giving me something to hold on to...
:)Kim

Here's a little hernia test you might try....cover your "lump" with your fingers then cough. Does the lump protrude further when you cough? If so, it could very well be a hernia. I had something similar and my doctor actually laughed outloud with relief I think, when he felt it bulge a bit during a cough. He said, "its just a hernia". Now I remember a time when having a hernia would have scared me to death but I laughed too and said "Thank God, just a hernia."

I hate this hyper vigilence that cancer give us. I automatically think the worst when I have any physical complaint now.

Yes, actually it does! Hope that is a good sign. And yes, Jennali...I hate this. I had no idea how much something like this could change your life. Wow.
