One year milestone

0 Recommendations

Today is one year since I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. No one has remembered except me. I am so happy that I have been given the gift of starting another new year. It is hard to think of how scared I was to have surgery and how I waited four days to hear from my surgeon that it was cancer. I try to live each day as if it was my last and have a special moment everyday.

I am happy that this website and everyone on has been with me for the past year.

You know, it is a day I'm sure we all remember. That's the day our lives changed forever. Hope your doing well!!

What a wonderful anniversary!!! The longer without it is a good sign! Thanks for sharing your good news...it is of great encouragement to others like me. And you enjoy this next year, too!

A big congratulations to you on your one year anniversary! Almost sort of a fresh new birthday--- I'm just starting that journey, having my surgery on Monday, April 13th. Will wake up from that surgery and look forward to having my first anniversary. What a great thought, thanks for sharing this, very timely for me and a good visualization to carry me through.

Congrats to you! I know I'll always remember that day, too. And I'm so happy for you! These are times of celebration even if only in OUR minds....

Yesterday I had my usual 3 month checkup and everything is fantastic, my doctor said, see you in 4 months!....wow, I graduated again...now to 4 months....this is big news to each of us going thru this...each step a baby step to some, but to us it's big!
The nurse called at 4:30 and left a message to call her by 5pm...she has good news about my CA-125 again, but I wasn't home and now have to wait till Monday morning because they're closed for the holiday. But last night my husband and I listened to her message again before we went to bed just to hear her voice say "I have good news about your CA-125 again"...we smiled and hugged and went to bed and went to sleep content.

So, we will continue to have our little celebrations each day until the Lord takes us home. It happens to everyone eventually. It may be from ovca or it may be from an accident(as we heard the new, hot rookie pitcher from the Angels died in a car accident yesterday at age 22), a tornado (as we heard this morning in Arkansas), an earthquake which took the lives of over 200 people two days ago in Italy, or whatever the cause...we all go sometime. ...we just don't know when!

So, enjoy your holiday this weekend! I know I am!

Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful reason to celebrate. Thank you for sharing -- it is a great offer of hope and inspiration!

Congratulations and happy anniversary. That is a great milestone.

I very well remember the day I found out and that was over 8 years ago. Be optimistic and enjoy your life!

Thanks everyone for such wonderful and supportive replies. Easter is the season to celebrate a new beginning.

Our God is an awesome God. What wonderful news thanks for sharing with us.

That is awesome :)

SouthernBelle, congratulations! No one knows the day our lives changed like we do. There are so many dates really. The day we were dx, the last day of chemo...I have kept a spreadsheet on my CA125 counts since 2005. You should do something for yourself. Buy/bake a cake...go to a movie YOU want to see...buy yourself a nice pair of shoes. Something that makes you feel good!

What wonderful news! I know you are so thrilled. God is an awesome God and He hears our prayers!
