nodules,cysts, tumors whatever.....

0 Recommendations

Does anyone know the difference between a nodule,a cyst and a tumor, because apparently I have all three. I have nodules on my adrenal glands and cysts on my kidney and a lymphocele on my right side where the original surgery was done. My ca 125 is rising and Im scared. My doc is not concerned about thenodules on the adrenal glands or in the kidneys,....the only one he is concerned about is the one on the right side, which has been shrinking. I asked him to biopsy them to make sure they're nots cancerous. He said he doesnt want to do that yet. Whoope for him...yeah im a little fed-up with him and his glib answers. I could deal with this if I had definitive answers...ugh!!!!!! I thinkim inrecurrence, but noone will come right out and say it.

My husband is a retired surgeon. He says a cyst is a liquid filled sac. A nodule is a clump of cells that you can feel. A tumor is basically the same, but people usually think of a malignancy when using that word. A cyst, nodule or tumor may or may not be malignant. Hope this helps. If you are not happy with your doctor, can't you go to another gyn/oncologist? What about a second opinion if you don't want to change doctors?

Ask for a PET! Or at the very least a CT. He might think that a biopsy is too invasive, or he might just be an ass. But a scan would give you some answers without having to deal with the biopsy issue.
I agree with zircons......might be worthwhile to get a different doc's opinion.

Tks for the help. Im having trouble getting a second opinion as to insurance issues and financial worries, but I;m working on it. They actually found the nodules, cysts etc on a ct scan, but as much as I question them about the situation I dont get any REAL answers. You're right I really, really need that second opinion. Tks for the feedback.

I second what the other ladies said. Get a second opinion, especially if you Dr is consistently unhelpful or glib.

I'm getting frustrated with the health care system too!
