Above is a link to a new chemo regimen that is being used in Japan to treat ovarian cancer. Sounds very promising. Lets pray they find a cure soon.

Very promising,,looks ike a good study. I calculated my weekly Taxol maintenance with their dose and they are getting 420 mgs or so a month and I am getting 300. If I had seen this, I would have requested a bigger dose but it does look like it is pretty toxic. Alot of drop outs.

All this is is bigger doses of the usual.

The study is a weekly dose of 80mg/m2 so if that is equated with a monthly = 4 weeks then their dose is approximately 320mg/m2 in a month not 420 mg/m2.
It is better to compare at a 6 week equivalent dose. The study's dose dense group: 80mg/m2 for 6 weeks = 480mg/m2 vs the study's conventional group 180mg/m2 in 6 weeks received 360 mg/m2.
How many mg/m2 a week are receiving?
(per meter squared =m2)

From te study:
"The 320 patients in the conventional regimen group received six cycles of paclitaxel (180 milligrams per meter squared; three-hour intravenous infusion). The 317 patients in the dose-dense group received paclitaxel (80 milligrams per meter squared; one-hour intravenous infusion) on days one, eight and 15. Both groups received carboplatin on day one of a 21-day cycle."

THe dose is per meter squared so you have to multiply it by your square meters and that is how I got the equivalent. It is for initial not maintenance so I guess it doesn't translate for me.

ANd I figured three doses a month they are getting, I am getting four. Still, I like that regimin for initial treatment and the results look better,,if you can stand it.
