Hi, I have just went through small cell lung cancer with my dad who passed in July and we found the Inspire Lung Cancer Site to be a source of great information and confort.
My dad was diagnosed in October 08, Shortly After my Mother in law received great news that her CA 125 count was down to 9. We were then hit with my dads diagnoses.
Now we just found out my mom's Ca 125 is at 98. She had a cat scan last week and is travelling to Halifax On Wednesday to have her consulatation for the results. Her initial diagnoses in April 08 was stage IV ( not sure what number after that) she had a complete Historectomy and 6 ( I think) rounds of Chemo.
My question to people more familiar with this is " When Ovarion Cancer comes back where are the most common places that the secondary cancer lands?"
Thanks so much , just trying to get as much information to be prepared with her when we see the oncologist.
Thanks
Chad

My own experience has been tumors outside the liver, but it can obviously spread to lots of places. I think the most common are in the abdomen/pelvis, lymph nodes and sometimes to the chest. I do know from my rheumatologist (whose wife is an ovca survivor) that it does not go to the bone.

I'm sorry about the loss of your Dad, and I wish your Mom the very best.

So sorry to hear of all the difficulties you've been facing. Will keep you all in prayer.

The recurrences generally return anywhere in the abdominal cavity or at the top of the vaginal area. It can also move into the lungs and liver. It's not likely to go into the bones like some cancers. Stage IV is the highest stage and would have involved metastasis into the liver or lungs at that time. If she had success with the standard treatment the first time around and it has been a year in remission they might try to go with that same treatment again.

Best of luck to you.

My Dr. just called and my first recurrence showed a small spot by the live and one by the pancreas . I am going to see him this afternoon. He said he would like to start my chemo next week. The same as before. taxol and carboplaten every three weeks. taxol once a week

I gave some mis information about My Mother in law, Sorry , it was stage 3 not 4. I do not know if that changes anyones thoughts about re accurance .

Thanks again

3 or 4... they are both advanced disease, 4 has just gotten further out into the body. Both come with very high chance of recurrence. Unfortunately :(.

Peg... so sorry to hear the latest from the doctor. That's going to put a damper on the hunting trip. I will definately keep you in my prayers. Let us know how it goes.
