Join Our New Addition to the OCNA Annual Conference: The Legacy Corner

This year, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance 12th Annual Conference theme is "Celebration of Life" and new programs are being introduced including a designated reception area called "Legacy Corner" where women (or their caregivers) will be able to share their unique stories about their experience with ovarian cancer. The "Legacy Corner" will provide a place to rest, share, and participate in the Conference in a uniquely personal manner. By appointment, we will meet with selected Conference attendees to record their stories on video and capture photos.

All those who are selected will be asked to sign photo releases granting the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance the rights to use the stories and images in our communications to raise awareness of ovarian cancer. All the women who participate in the "Legacy Corner" project will be provided copies of their story summary, including photos and edited video clips to use for their own personal awareness efforts as well.

This year, we are only able to conduct 16 interviews at the "Legacy Corner" reception room during the Conference week.For those that are not selected for an interview, you will still be provided an opportunity to share your story at the Conference by completing the "Legacy Corner Questionnaire" found in the registration packets. Candidates for interviews will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

The goal of the "Legacy Corner" project is to support our "Celebration of Life" theme and chronicle the many compelling stories of survivors, advocates, friends or those who may wish to pay tribute to someone they lost to ovarian cancer.

The "Legacy Corner" Project - DETAILS

WHEN: Monday, July 6th from 4pm to 8pm & Tuesday, July 7th from 7:30am to 7:30pm

NOTE: Interviews will not be conducted on the final day of the Conference, Wednesday, July 8th, to ensure that all the attendees have the opportunity to participate in the various closing activities such as the Remembrance Ceremony, the Award Ceremony and the Keynote and Closing speaker presentations.

WHERE: Omni Shoreham Hotel near the Conference Exhibit Hall. Signs will be posted to direct you to the "Legacy Corner" reception room.

WHAT: Each interview will require a 90-minute commitment from the participant:
30-minute make-up session provided by L'Oreal
15 to 20-minute photo shoot led by photographers Duane Stork and Thad Allendar
30 to 40 minute private recorded interview
Refreshments will be provided, and wine will be served, courtesy of Five Rivers Winery.
