I did a post yesterday, but somehow it never showed up.
I just got back from the watercolor convention and my husband went on his hunting trip. Well, I saw the Dr. yesterday and my scan showed two small spots, one by my liver and one behind the pancreas. He said one might be touching a nerve causing the discomfort I've had. I start chemo next week. taxol and carbo once a week for three weeks and one week off. this will go on for at least 6 months. He said after a month if the pain didn't go away he would do another scan. He really felt positive about getting me in remission since my CA-125 was only 51. The CA has been a good indicator for me.
Anyway I guess this is just another bump in the road and I'm not going to let it get me down. I will still keep up my painting, going to shows and my critique group.
I plan on taking my walk every day. Well, I quess that's all for now.

Taxol Pain Avastin

Sorry to hear that Peg. I will keep you in my prayer basket. As you said probably just another bump in our road to keep the monster under control.

Since you get the chemo every week, will it be a lower dose than the first time around?

The Doctor said since I did so well on the first round, He will give me the same dose.

Peg,

Is he starting the chemo to help with the pain?

Just in case this might bring a little smile, I thought I'd recurred even before I'd finished my first chemo. I had pain under my ribs that wouldn't stop. When the scans came back clear, the next thought was that it was my gall bladder; I had all the symptoms. Those came back with the news that my 55-year-old gall bladder was functioning at more than 80%. Finally, one day, all my lovely new bras I'd treated myself to before chemo, were dirty at the same time, and I had to wear my old ones. That turned out to be the source of the rib pain!

I know the scans are showing otherwise, but may the source of your pain turn out to be underwear or possibly binding from the waistband of your slacks!

Seriously, I'm so sorry you are dealing with a recurrence. I'll be praying for an easy, effective time with chemo for you.

Blessings.

i started in may of 2007 with a ca125 of 55, and 2 spots on my lower intestines, one of the right side, one on the left side. each were about 2 to 3 inches or largers. they ahve been gone for some time, but i have been on chemo since that time, as in jan of 2008 ascites kicked in. i have been drained 28 times, and i am now on avastin, and since i have been on it, sept 2, if have had no ascites to deal with, praise the lord. i also now have a spot on my liver and 2 enlarged lymph nodes. so the battle goes on. but i feel great, and i am back into an excercise program. i did a mile on the elipitical tuesday, a mile, at an aerobic pace, 37 minute walk on the treadmill thursday, 200 abs friday, and 10 miles, 70 minutes on the bike today. so god is good, he is faithful, and whatever your journey is, he will get you thru. my ca125 has bounced from 55 in may of 2007 to almost 900 in january of 2008, down to as low as 42 in the fall of 2008, and is now 120. so don't get fixated on the ca125, it is hard, but cast it out of your mind. god bless.
