is chemo programmed as computer software ?

0 Recommendations

My wife finished two chemo

1'st with single drug
2'nd with two drugs - standard ones - Taxol and Paciltaxel - albumin bound

Her ascites fluid is gone almost 60%......the pants which used to NOT fit , now fits loosely.....so looks like her water/fluid at belly is gone considerably.....

BUT

she do not say any , any pain for 3,4 days and after 3,4 days some minor pain - at the middle of stomach.....

and again, no pain for 2,3 days.....

So, is this some sort of programmed drug effect ? Or it is like that.......the the medicine release some cancer fighting mechanisms in certain fashion...... ?

I'm curious and concerned to know this.....

Overall, she is fantastic.....taking almost 15 min walk everyday.......

any thoughts..... ???

I'm no doctor, but I do know the chemos she has gotten go right into the system. The only chemo I've gotten that works in a sort of time-release fashion is Doxil. It is encapsulated in a liposome so that it can get closer to the cancer before the body fights it. That's why some side effects don't show up for a month or so.

Everyone gets different side effects from their treatment. The timing and severity can vary widely, even from month to month. Usually chemo effects are cumulative, so your wife should keep a record of everything so that she can tell her doctor and he can monitor her. She sounds like she's doing well and deserves a pat on the back!
