I am in a clinical study called NKTR-102 PEG Irinotecan and after two treatments, my CA125 is 16 down from 88. The two spots on the omentum have shrunk. This is good news for me as I have been dealing with Stage3 since 2005 with a remission for 28 months.
I had another treatment yesterday and the side effects are not bad, just fatigue. Another lady whom I have met during this trial is having it a little rougher than I am. Her treatment is every two weeks and mine is every three. We didn't have a choice about that. I am still learning that we all respond differently. Sometimes I get so tired of thinking about cancer all the time. It seems all I do is go to the doctor. With this trial, I go the day before treatment for bloodwork. This past week, I went for bloodwork on Wednesday, CT scan on Thursday and Friday for treatment. The machine was down that measures the bloodwork so I had to cancel treatment on Friday and go on Monday so the doctor would have time to see the bloodwork and the scan and compare.
There are still chemos out there for us to try so don't anyone give up. I'm glad to share my experiences if it will help just one person.
Blessings to all,
Rachel (OldieLocks)
