I wanted to tell you guys about this woman . She is a late stage ovarian cancer patient who took on an insurance company and won.
The basics as I understand is she got tired of paying the bulk of charges for care when her insurance gave her the fair and reasonable dodo . She went up against United health care which gives the we use an independent group to decide what is fair and reasonable. They in fact owned the company.
They disagree with the finding but have decided to settle so if you are with or have been with United you are now a member of the class action lawsuit.
This has always driven me bonkers.I go in for surgery at an in network hospital with an in network surgeon to be billed by an out of network anesthesiologist. After some research I found out my in network hospital doesn't have a single in network anesthesiologist . They are all independent. When I talked to one who had done 2 surgeries before he said the simple reason was no one he knew of would accept the payment as fair and reasonable. They felt the numbers were very much skewed. So short of having my daughter hit me in the head with a hammer I was left with paying the unfair and unreasonable on my own.
Just thought you all would be interested.
The article is in aol health news . Under The biggest insurance scheme of all time?

The Today show did a story on this last week. I was home to watch it since I wasn't feeling all that hot after a treatment. They are actually called United Health Group which United Health Care is under them. I have UNC too but have had no difficulties with my coverage or medical payments with them in the 2 years I have had them. However, since someone did bring this to the attention of the NYC attorney general, he has investigated them and opened up several cases with other insurance companies to see what they are doing. If a Class Action law suit is brought against them, anyone that has their insurance will be automatically included. You have to review all of your statements and question everything. Sometimes they have reps who know nothing and you'll have to find the one who does know. Check the MSNBC site and click on the Today show to see if they still have it up.

It's a bugger to find . Go into aol.You don't have to be a member to go in .just do a search and go into main website . Then you go to directory on the left side and pick news. Then choose health. then in the search put in the biggest insurance scheme of all time.

I have UHC so I very interested in reading the article but can't seem to find it. Help!
