This is my first time writing. I, too, am a 13 year ovarian cancer survivor. Mine was Stage 1C only because my tumor ruptured, which I truly believe saved my life. My last check up was in August, 2008 and to date no recurrence and my CA 125 is 10 and since I develop mucousy tumors, I have a CEA, which also was normal.

Congrats on the 13th years!!! My sister is also a 1c and it's been 3.5 years for her so far. She only had the mass removed and nothing else...so your post was just what I wanted to read!! THanks!!!!!Joanne

Thanks and congratulations. We need the long-term survivor stories, especially this month!

Blessings,
Verlinda

I am a stage 1C with normal CA125 and CEA diagnosed in April of this year. The doctors tell me how lucky I am, but hearing your story is truly reassuring and a source of inspiration.
Thank you.

I am a 12 year survivor today - Stage II B with two recurrences. Glad to hear you too are doing well! I just finished 9 treatments with Carbo and doing well. CT scan and another CA-125 10/22 and then results 10/27 with my onc and discuss possible oral cytoxen for a year. I'm doing well and just have to stay positive! Congrats!

I am a nine and a half year survivor after first diagnosis and four year survivor next month after first recurrence. Early detection really is everything. When I hit my five year mark, my doctor told me I was cured and he didn't need to see me for a year. Six months later, my first (and only) recurrence. Now I see him every three months and I don't think I'm ever going to hear the C word (cured) again. But at this point remission sounds mighty fine to me. I'll take it.
I have great confidence in my onc. and my gyn/onc. Happy to have both. I didn't have the gyn/onc. until after the recurrence. He's the one that did the surgery and I see him every six months (correction - he sees a lot more of me, I just go to his office!!).
I love hearing other long-time survivor stories.

good to hear long term survivor stories.it gives hope. being from a third world country i do only yearly CTs and CA 125. I have been healthy for 3 years but now see closer monitoring may be necessary. Thanks for sharing your story

I was diagnosed stage IA, grade 1 in January 2002, and I was told I will have to see my oncologist for the rest of my life. I see her every six months.

I do blood tests before each visit, and my onc does a breast and abdominal exam.
