Hedgehog trial :-)

Have you heard of the new Hedgehog trial? My doctor says it sounds very, very promising. I think, when I get back into remission, I may get to be a part of this trial.

i love the bit which said that animals - Hedgehogs? have done better with the drug Compared with "vehicle trials".

How did they conduct vehicle trials on hedgehogs? Why did the hedgehog cross the road?

Sorry shouldn't joke about it.

I saw it on ABC News last week. I am also very interested in this and I am going to ask my doctor about it. Do you know where the trials are being conducted at the moment?

It is in phase I trial. Therefore any anyone with metastatic/advanced cancer can enroll as long as they meet eligibility requirements. Phase I is to done to look at safetyy and dose levels
Study is open at sites in Arizona, Colorado and Maryland.

I am currently in a phase II drug study of a drug called GDC-0449 (study name--A Study of GDC-0449 (Hedgehog Pathway Inhibitor) As Maintenance Therapy in Patients With Ovarian Cancer in a Second or Third Complete Remission). This study is going on in @12 or 13 states--it is also a hedgehog pathway inhibitor--I've been on it 7 months now--since my first recurrence last summer-it's a double blind study (50-50 chance of getting the drug) told my oncologist if she finds me curled in a ball with prickly spines on my back-it's the drug! You've got to laugh-actually I do think I'm getting the drug-based on some side effects and no other changes in my meds.

Forgot to include the link to the trial I am on if anyone wants to read about it:
