Groin lymphnode light up in pet with SUV 14.7----what to expect?

0 Recommendations

Recently I am dealing with some issue with my enlarged lymphnode in my groin, it first show up in my CT scan, and my doctor want to get some detailed info, so we did a PET/CT, and it light up with a SUV 14.7, we will arrange a biopsy next. Our family is so nervous now, and I know our situation is much better that 2 years ago, when I was first diagnosed, my little son only 11 months old, now he is 3. I just want to know what should I expect for the result, appreciate any input. My Ca125 elevated from 3 to 16 within 3 weeks.

Hi, Maysea. The suv is taken to help determine whether a mass is malignant or not. Typically the higher the suv, the greater the chance it is cancerous. When something lights up on a PET scan it usually indicates cancer. You didn't mention the size- that's a big factor in this. Many many women have suv's much higher than that with a tumor size of 15 cm and I personally know some of these women (one being my Mom) and she went back into remission, rather quickly too. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know!!) wait until you get all of the facts from the dr and actually see what you are dealing with..
Hope this helped..

Hi Kathy, thanks so much for your quick response. Your words warm up my heart and help me calm down a little bit. This week I would get more info from my doctor. He want me do a biopsy and then talk. By the way my enlarged lymphnode is 2.1*2.3 cm.
