I just had a ct scan and no cancer. c125 a steady 12
Last Chemo March 15th of 08. HOWEVER, when they called and told me about my scan they also said I showed a lot of fecal matter in me. want to put me of fema. the reason I had the scan is I was having abdominal pain and some bloating. scared the heck out of me. So if this so called constipation has the same symptoms as ovc how do I know when to call my Dr. I really feel awful right now and I really haven't had much constipation. I quess i will see what the fema does, but having all this stuff inside me has me a little worried. I quess I got this off my chest by sounding off. Glad to have you guys to listen

All your results sound good! Thats a good sign. Maybe it is just constipation with the abdominal pains and bloating. Sometimes you just don't know what to do, do ya? At least you had it checked out and its NOT cancer. I don't know anything about fema though. I'm sure somebody on here does.

I guess we report every symptom to the doc to stay safe....I have a hard time with that though. I always hope things resolve on their own...sometimes I think I play with fire, but the fear paralyzes me.

Did you have part of your bowel removed in your surgery? If yes, that may be part of why you are having bowel problems.

No, I didn't and I'm not really constipated. I misspelled the med I was to take. It is senna not fema. I am going to try it tonight. I'll see what happens. This is the first time I have gone to the doctor for discomfort. I avoid them as much as possible. thanks for the reply

I had small bowel and sigmoid colon resection and have had intermittent constipation, gas, abdominal discomfort since surgery. I hate it because it always scarees me. Scans and Ca 125 are in two weeks and I will b e relieved to get them.

I don't know,,do we call a doc for all our stomach discomfort ,,with me it would be once a week!!

good luck on your scan. let us know.

Senna is pretty mild... I was told by the tech in my transvaginal ultrasound "if someone ever tells you you're full of crap - you REALLY are." I didn't think I had THAT much of a problem, but things build up over time I guess. I am still in chemo now but have thought about doing some type of mild "cleanse" once I am done - kind of a fresh start so to speak! I would say trust your instincts - better to tell your doctor more than less.

I agree abou telling the Dr. more than less. It sure can't hurt

I take four stool softeners and a mild laxative daily to keep my bowels moving. My CT's have been as your doctor described - full of fecal matter. If I don't take them I get abdominal pain and bloating that keeps me from doing my daily routine. It isn't so bad and I know that they will keep me cleaned out and feeling better. It relieves me from the worry if this pain is the cancer returning and I can continue to live my life - I hope that you get relief from your new treatment and that it gives your relief from your pain. Let us hear if it helps......

Stacey

Glad to hear your scan and CA125 are good. That's a good sign!

I call the oncologist for everything because I'm not sure what my problem might be related to.

Just yesterday my husband and I were discussing, when do we call, if we ever will again, the family physician?

Take today for example. I have severe peripheral neuropathy and now I'm having joint problems in some of fingers. Did I injure my finger somehow and didn't really feel it? Or maybe it's related to the lingering side effects from chemo.? Who knows.

I tried for days to get a call back from the oncologist's office so I finally tried our family doctor. The nurse at the family dr office said it was a good question on who I should call, them or the onco.

Anyway, the oncologist's office called this morning to send me for x-rays of my hands. I 'm also sending a copy of the x-rays to the family dr. to keep him informed.

I feel like I'll always be attached to the onco.'s office.

Hi Pegart,

Congratulations on your good results from the CT scans and CA-125, that is great!! As for the constipation issue, you may have some areas in your bowel that are more narrow than others and can interfer with the passage of your stool. So you need to keep your stool soft so it will pass more easily.

I hope the Senna will work for you. But if it doesn't do ask about stool softeners and the use of Miralax. The Miralax really worked for me and you can get it over the counter. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!! Eileen

thats so weird. I have one finger on my right hand I can barely move sometimes. I have to lay my hand flat and push it down so it will lay flat. I was going to call my primary care doc to find out if I injured it . My therapist thought is might be because of the way I hold my paintbrush all day, but I really don't use that finger much, but boy does it hurt sometimes. Let me know what happens with your x-rays. Peggy

thanks for the input

Thanks Peggy. I'll let you know.
