Goodbye Curly Hair...

0 Recommendations

Hi Everyone....Finally getting a pic on here....looks nothing like the "old" me. I used to have blondish/brown shoulder length hair that had a bit of wave in it here and there. After chemo...came in sooo dark and sooo curly, I really hate it. However...I figured I needed to finally get my mug online since I will be losing my hair again. Chemo starts this Friday, the 30th. I decided to go to Duke for a study of Avastin and Taxotere. 1st week both drugs, 2nd week only taxotere, 3rd week off and then start over....they will CT me after 3 rounds, so about 9 weeks.
Thanks again for all of your support, thoughts and prayers. I pray for all of us as well. :)Kim

My hair came in curly at first then straightened out to it's normal self - Sorry about your recurrence - you have a beautiful face so I'm sure you look good hair or no hair -

My hair also came back almost black and very curly-afro like. I liked it, actually! It is now back to the usual straight dark brown.

I was grateful it didn't come back grey - I am only in my 40s! Not just yet, please :)

i'm a bit salt and peppery now but far more gray on one side than the other. the skunk look would have been more interesting :P

I will be praying that this regimen will deliver the knockout punch.

Kim,
You look absolutely beautiful! I know what you mean about the curly hair. I am not quite sure what to do with mine! It is about 2 inches now. I will be praying for you as you begin chemo again. You're strong, hang in there!
Love,
Lisa

Glad you posted your pic, now I know what you look like. Beautiful, with or without hair. I had the avastin with my initial chemo and it did work well. Is the trial a blind or open study? Hang in there, you have all of us rooting for you.
Keep Positive.

Try to stay positive. I am the last person who you would expect to say that but do your best.

Blessings and good thoughts to you.

Hi,

All the best with the new chemo regimen. Are you going to be on line during the time at Duke?

I know what you mean about hair. Mine came out a bit curly and some patches are really white. So need two different colours to get an even result. I am colouring it and wondering whether to have it cut - it is about 2 inches long - as it may fall off again. I shall see.

Stay strong

Regards
GEPI

Sending you healing thoughts and prayers! (((HUGS)))

Hi Kim,

I love your hair! I would have loved mine to come back curly...isn't that always the way? Mine is very gray and very straight.
I am glad that you have decided on your next move and I hope and pray that you have good results.
Do keep us posted as we are all trying to decide what to do when it is our time to decide. My very best wishes to you. Stacey

Kim,
About the hair thing, mine came back curly too, but got back to normal later. Hope this new treatment does the trick! Just hang in there....

P.S. love those mums!!!!

When I went to my oncologist the first time he said when my hair comes back it will be better than ever and suggested perhaps I'd get red curly hair. He's an older gent and I could tell he thought that sounded pretty sexy. When I saw your photo it made me think heh that's the hair I was supposed to get! Instead it's charcoal grey with white tips. Very boring. No curls, nothing....

Good luck on the new stuff. I hope it does the trick and when your hair comes back it will be just what you wanted!

Kim, I had noticed the new photo and really like it! I was hoping for some curl when mine came back. Now that I've lost it again, I am once again thinking maybe I'll have some curl when it comes back. :-) Best to you with the new study!

Hi,
I had thick, wavy hair and it came back baby fine and very straight. When I wake up in the morning , it's sticking up all over the place.....My original hair was so thick, I hardly looked different from when I went to sleep the night before, so this is new to me. Getting used to it, but hope now that my last chemo protocol just ended (I've had two recurrences of OVarian Stage 111) in two years, maybe my real hair will return?

well mine came back,
Supper Curly, the kind I remmeber the old ladies getting
perms for... and then every week they'd go get s "DO"

well .... to my shock
I used to have thick dark brown straight hair... it didnt take well to perms... or curling irons...
lol

well now I wake up and I ahve that old lady "do" its sooo puffy & curly.. and dark with grey

Im definately not used t it.... struggling
thinking when it first came I liek teh short curl.. version..
but now its 6 months of growth...
I will post a new pic. for ya'all to see
