Good news and wonders

My mom was diagnostic as stage 4 Primary Perioneal Cancer (treatment is similar with Ovarian, but Ovarian is fine). Start CA125 is ~450. After surgery, drop to ~45. Before starting the first round, drop again to 21.2. Before the second round, drop again to 9.2.

It is good news, but I wonder what is going next ? Is she going to the third, fourth ... sixth round ? What is the expectation? Is there any chance CA 125 to to 0?

Thanks,

My ca125 was 48 beffore surgery after surgery before starting chemo my ca125 dropped to 13 it continued to drop with each chemo stopping at 4

I had a Pet scan last January that showed no evidence of disease. My Dr says I'm in remision. My ca125 hovers around 35. ca125 numbers are different for everyone they aren't the only thing they look at to see if your in remision. All Dr's treat they're patients differently. If you want an answer regarding your Moms treatment you should ask the Dr .

The oncologists will probably continue treatment for at least 6 cycles. If her CA-125 stays nearly constant for 2 cycles and the CT scans show no nodes, they would consider that level her baseline. Any CA-125 in the single digits is considered a great sign, if the individual's CA-125 has been a good marker for disease. As a stage 4 survivor myself, I'm so happy that your mom seems to be well on her way into remission.

Bao.....yes, she probably will continue with chemo and do all 6 rounds. I had no evidence of cancer on a PET after round 3 and still had to do the 3 remaining rounds.
the CA 125 will probably not go to 0 as it can raise for many reasons unrelated to cancer----inflammation, etc. in the body. But her low numbers are great!

My onc told me that normal range for CA125 is 35 and below. When I was diagnosed in 2006 my CA125 was 3,500, after surgery it was 278, started chemo and after three rounds my CA125 went to 7, then after 5 rounds it went to 0. I completed the 6th round and then went on what my doctor called "Chemo Holiday". It was a year and a half before my CA125 went up to 40, then I had to start chemo again.

Yes your CA125 can get to "0" but keeping it below 35 is what really matters, at least in my case that is what my doctors strive for.
