Cat scans of head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis shows NO signs of cancer. They were all good and clear.
But the CA125 that they keep a close eye on with Ovarian Cancer isn't supposed to be over 35.
My oncologist has dealt with me so long that he can let mine get to 60 before he knows it's time for a new scan and bloodwork.
My CA125 was 455!
He did further checking into my results for possible bone cancer and everything there was good, nothing bad.
They took more blood before we left the office yesterday. I called today and it was 194. Still high, but a whole lot better than 455.
We're gonna do more bloodwork in 6 weeks unless I feel like it needs to be done sooner.
I know a lot of oncologists treat according to #'s, but mine's one that treats by what shows on the scan. He doesn't want to put chemo in someone if there's no cancer showing.

We're all thankful that the scans are all good, but that # has just thrown us off.

Still in remission from stage IV Ovarian Cancer!

Thank You ALL again for being here for me!

Yipee!!! I am so glad your onc isn't ordering any more chemo... I totally agree with him! I am so happy for you and share in your relief!!!!

Blessings and hugs!!!

I am so thrilled to hear your news! It sounds like you have a great oncologist. I am looking at a rising CA125 so am very interested in how remission is determined. I feel ok and almost 2 months ago had a good CT...no change. What are you doing diet and healthwise? Do you think it may have something to do with your remission? Thanks for sharing your awesome news!

was diagnosed at 23 and had no insurance. im 29 and wanting a family but lost both my ovaries. is there any hope?

Good for you, Dodie. You deserve some good news. As we all know there are other things that can cause a rise in the ca125, With your clean scan you must feel relieved! As for now, NO MO CHEMO! ;)

I was glad for your news Dodie. Breathe a sigh of relief! Such good news we love to hear it.

Thanks for sharing such wonderful news. I'm sure you are so happy to get all those clear scan results. Let's hope the high CA number is just a fluke - that's quite a dramatic drop, so who knows?

My doctor is the same way - the number has to get up to around 60 for more bloodwork and a scan. My marker has been accurate all along, so this is fine with me too.

I hope it keeps dropping back to normal and you can continue to enjoy your remission. You deserve it!!

I know you must be happy to have clear scans! YEAH!!
I am very happy for you as well! :)Kim

my docs same. no scans for me unless ca125 goes wacky or he finds something upon exam. last scan sept 2008 clear, but been on chemo for ascites since january 2008, before that was for 2 small areas on bowell that went away as of sept cat scan and he has not felt anything forever...ca 125 is 82 right now, stretching out carbo to 4 to 5 weeks from 3. so good new s for you and me. god bless.

Sherri, it is so good to see you on, and I am ecstatic to hear about your CA125!

what great news! A clear scan is a wonderful thing! Celebrate!

hi, my ca125 going down wasn't even something i was worried about. it dropped 45 points last month, and a little again this month. the best news is doc used those words, i am stable, better than remission as far as i am concerned. although i would take that, but life is good, and god is with me. hope you are doing well. sherry

Sherry, your news has made my day!!!! What a miracle from God! Thanks for sharing it with us! You are so special to me and I have been praying for you. I have a CA125 this Monday and am praying mine stays steady, too. My youngest sister was just diagnosed with Stage 3 lymphoma and started chemo a week ago and I want to be able to go down and help her out some since she is a single mom with 3 young kids. I have put it in God's hands. It is so good to hear your wonderful news, Sherri!!!

so sorry to hear that. it is hard to know what to do. prayer and giving it to GOD is the best thing we can do, it may not be the easiest, but it is the best. he is awesome, that word should be reserved for HIM, for he truly is awesome, all that he is, all that he does. prayers with you, sherry

This is all so good to hear, Dodie!! You certainly deserve to get some good news.. Keep us all posted!!!

Dodie,

So happy to hear about your clear scans ! That is great news. And it sounds like whatever was causing your ca-125 to elevate is resolving itself.

Thank you all so much!
I feel so blessed to have all of your support through this. We all need good news more often than we hear it from everyone.

I don't do anything diet-wise. I eat what I want and over the past couple of years I've been eating more veggies and fruits. I tend to stay away from caffine too. I drink a lot of 7-Up.
Health-wise, with my muscular dystrophy and scoliosis I can't do much. I do push myself to keep going though.

I feel good. This time last year gut feeling told me something was wrong and it was. I feel nothing wrong this summer.

I wish you all good results from your doctors.

Take care & God Bless

I am so glad to hear how well you are doing, Dodie. You certainly deserve it!

Thanks Jennali

Great news Dodie!! I'm so happy for you. I wish you the best of luck with CA125.

I'll be praying for you.

Love,
Esther

I am so glad for you! What a relief! Enjoy your remission!
