CT Relay for Life Event - Update

0 Recommendations

This weekend it was my turn to walk for each of you, your caregivers, for those we've lost and for myself. Our little town raised over $90,000.00 for our Relay event! My team made over $7,000.00! I hope every penny raised brings us leaps forward towards a cure. I wore teal polish on my fingers and toes, a teal bandana on my bald head, and had a whole table set up with ovarian cancer awareness brochures provided by the NOCC and handed out teal ribbons that we made. The event inspired and moved me -- I encourage everyone touched by cancer to try to find a Relay for Life and be a part of it in some way.

My 11 year old asked me, as we walked a lap for ou \r team, "Mom, next year - when you don't have cancer anymore - can we still come back and Relay?" I don't know what the next year holds in store for me, but I have an even greater newfound HOPE in me because of this event. I think all of my family members do, too.

Love, peace and teal toes to each of you!!!

Bravo to you!!! You did a wonderful thing and should be very proud.

My sister-in-law has organized the Relay event at her chuch and it will be in 2 weeks. Her 2 young children and my brother also participate I asked her to remember all of you in her event.

I hope your 11-year old can get that question answered with a resounding "yes!" Never give up. Blessings to you and your family.

Kristin, I'm so proud of you. Your team raised alot of money! And I'm so happy that you say you have newfound hope. You need to think along the lines of your son, that next year you won't have cancer! ........You go, girl!!!

Kristin, how proud and happy for all your efforts and what you were able to raise. We all need to get this to the forefront and not on the back burner and you've got a great start.

I just did a Relay for Life on 6/13/09 with my daughter at her high school. It was very moving to me to hear the different journeys the survivors have been on. I cried and felt very honored to take my victory lap with my friend who went thru throat cancer, my mother who went thru breast cancer and all of the other survivors. I salute the ACS for bringing relay for life to communities........I pray for a cure.....that we never have to hear those three words (you have cancer)again.
