Chemotherapy Fibromyalgia Fever Blisters Acyclovir

Shelter,
Sorry that you are still having problems way after therapy.
I had cold sores (fever blisters) during a couple of cycle treatments and found over the counter Abreva helped.
Good luck

What chemo were you on? Sounds like a combination of neuropathy and depressed immune system. For mouth sores, one of the things that helps a lot is a supplement called L-lysine, 500 mgs twice a day. For the neuropathy, I've heard that B-complex vitamins help. To boost the immunity, try Maitake - D two capsules twice a day, IP6 inositol 3 tablets twice a day, and green tea liquid or capsules.

I've been bothered by cold sores recently, too. I finished chemo in April.

I have a prescription for Acyclovir that I take at the first sign of an outbreak. It usually knocks the sucker right out. Abreva doesn't help me at all.

I used to take Lysine a long time ago... it is a good preventative.

Hope this helps... cold sores are no fun.

thanks quacker & daisy...

I know my immune system needs help
support
so I will go get those things
forgot about them... ( its the brain FOG i tell ya)
I might even have L-lysine, here LOL

and the abriva doesnt help
i also put Tee tree oil on it...
to killbacteria

howevr they are teh smallest of my woes...

the muscles... and nureopathy and fatigue is the worst
thanks

I completed Taxol/Carbo in June of this year. The finger neuropathy has left but I still have that "walking in crumpled socks" feeling on the soles of my feet.
Fatigue has just left. I have some left upper back muscle aches and leg aching.

I remembered after reading stldaisy's post--I had a few bad episodes of fever blisters back in the early 90's and my PCP treated it with acyclovir --worked great and I never had any more episodes until chemotherapy.

I am wondering if it is possible if that is what I am suffering from??? Since finishing chemo two and a half weeks ago I had a large mouth sore which became very bad and had to be treated with antibiotics (last day) but mouth/lips very swollen and inflamed inside. I did have cold sores initially as well, but this seems beyond. Any suggestions welcomed. Also don't know if there is a contraindication in taking anti-viral (acyclovar) and anti-bacterial (antiboitics) at same time.
(my chemo combination was Carbo/Taxol/Torisel - clinical trial. Torisel definitely causes mouth sores, but this is beyond anything I experienced during chemo).

Had all of the symptoms and more. Time will heal them but it doesn't help you now.

im doing better
its now......6 months since Chemo....

I am able to say
I am feeling better
most days

....
plan is to go back to work in 2 weeks... part time 2 hours 4 days a week.. for 2 weeks
then increase
I am sure It will all work out just fine...
just need to get back at it..
and work my way up to my Part time normal of 20 hours a week
im sure I can handle that
Ihope I can

my nerves are prety shot feeling
still
but... im trusting it will all work out
