CHemotherapy humor

Today at chemo, there were four great ladies all of whom were on some kind of narcotic. One was on Dilaudid, one on percocet, one on percocet and xanax. And one of the women said "I worry about all these addictive drugs,,but decided that when I lick this cancer, I will just go to rehab"

We laughed like crazy at going to rehab which is now our thing we say. It just tickled us at how much we would enjoy "rehab" compared to what is happening.

A light moment, but those of balm to sore hearts.

Ya gotta laugh for sure! Be well, Jan

Thanks for the laugh to start my day!

I forgot to add, we were all over sixty and the idea of "rehab" had never entered our minds. But we were curiously excited about who we would meet there.

Patricia, that gave me a much needed laugh. Thanks!

Great story! We should start a humor thread. I've had some doubling-over laughs on here from Carol Ann's story outside of Walmart to responses to rude comments.

If we can figure out how to get these on one strand, any time we're really down we can go to them quickly.

THe funniest/saddest thing I ever heard was a man after being told he had to pay for his own avastin, asked how much. He was told the amount and said "of course it is by weight so you multiply that by your weight factor"

At which point, his stunned wife looked up and said "should I put him on a very strict diet?"

I could nothelp laughing and so did her husband and the doc and everyone around,,it was just funny and sad all at the same time.

You're cracking me up! If my chemo brain can remember anything funny I've heard along the way I'll share!!!

Partcia123, you made me laugh so much tears came down my eye! Lesson : in all theeese there is always a silver lining in the cloud. I pray you get healthier. Keep us laughing , and bless you

Never stop laughing!

I love it. My cousin today was talking to me about my pain meds, I just got home from 6 days in the hopistal, aftern having to have fluid drained from around my lung (tube in for 4 days) and 2 procedures to try to stop bleeding from a couple of the tumors, 3 pints of blood and 4 bags of platels and I told her I was taking oxcodine maybe 1 time a day or every other day and she told me I might just want to take a tynelol so I would not get addicted to the pain med! I told I would be really careful and watch it closely...the whole time wanting to say that is the least of my worries right now!!! So next time, I can just tell her I will look into rehab after I get my cancer back under control!!!! Thanks for the laugh. Thinking and praying for you all my sisters!!!

Thank you for the laugh. Wish we could get a humor chat line going. BTW, have any of you read the book called "Not Now, I'm Having a No Hair Day"? It was written by a breast cancer survivor and is very funny.

Well, this is somewhat related. I have been thinking about making a bumper sticker that says "save the hoo-hoos" with a teal ribbon (I figure all the gynecologic cancers are in the same boat of being overrun by that damn pink ribbon, even during OUR month). What do you think?

I agree! I'm an OR nurse and finally found some fabric with teal ribbons on it. I made a scrub top and wore it to work. Someone actually told me that was a nice breast cancer awareness top with blue ribbons. What !!! I couldn't believe it. I then explained the significance of the "teal" ribbons.
