Thank you for sending this survey and info. I do believe somehow there is a common thread which links us to getting Ovarian Cancer. I just want to mention one thing about tampons. My daughter does not have Ovarian Cancer , but because I have it she has a risk factor. She has had fibroids and still gets them . She wore tampons when she went swimming in a pool and she got a horrible vaginal and urinary tract infection soon after that swim. When you think of the chemicals in the pool water being taken in the vaginal canal and being soaked up into a tampon ......It makes you think of all the things, including bath water etc filled with our perfumy bubbles that we never thought would be a risk. I do, however believe that they are. I powdered up my daughter after every diaper change and let her have those fun bubble baths like I had as a baby . She had kidney infections as a baby and I had to take her to specialists. My pediatrician specifically told me not to give her bubble baths nor use talcom powder on her . After I stopped it she no longer got infections. I know that what we have done to keep ourselves smelling good and skin hydrated and soft may indeed be a culprit. I am sure the industries selling these products don't want to hear about that possibility because their sales will go down. We need to find a link and see if the future generations can avoid this horrid disease. Thank you Kathy for being so vigil on this matter. I wish your mother the best. annejulia

Thanks, Annejulia. I appreciate the support!!

I took the survey and want to Thank you Kathy for all your work in support of OVC.

I just found this and filled out the survery. Most questions didn't really apply since I was 20 when diagnosed. Most of the answers to the questions apply to my life since my diagnosis almost 35 yrs ago, so they couldn't have been involved with developing the disease so long ago.

Best of luck with the survey, with your site and especially with your mom.

Sue

Hi Kathy
Thanks for putting that survey together. I have found that a number of women I have met who have OC have had thyroid issues ( cancer / benign cysts, etc) either prior to diagnosis or after diagnosis. It might be interesting to ask the question " have you ever had Thyroid problems?" in your survey and see how many women have that link.
Thanks and Happy New Year .

Three years ago I participated in a survey of this type being done by Dana Farber Cancer Institute. The questionnaire has much more detail in terms of when and how often the various dietary and life-style habits occurred, and is followed up with an interview by a nurse. As part of the study, they also interview another woman of the patient's same age and town who has not developed OvCa.

I took the survey too....Thanks!

Thanks for all of your suggestions, they are great! I knew that there would be things that I missed on the survey, I spent a long time trying to cover it all, but all of you bring up some great questions that I missed. I appreciate you all taking the survey, the more women who participate the better!!

Thanks again!
Kathy

Hi, Sue. Mom is doing well, thanks. So what is your story? How did they pick up your OVCA? I know several women who are 30+ year survivors and I think it is so great that you are out here giving hope to so many women.

Hugs,
Kathy

Hi Dee. Those are great suggestions. Unfortunately I can't add anything to the survey now because so many have already taken the survey and I was told that I would have to start over if I added anything else. I will definitely add it if the opportunity presents itself!

Thanks again!!

Kathy

Shearaw, did you ever get any results from that survey? It would be interesting too see those results. I will post the results on the web site when the survey is complete for everyone who is interested.

Do you know who the dr was in charge of that survey?

Thanks,
Kathy
