CA doubled

0 Recommendations

why CA has doubled ? is that normal ?

In first round she got only Carboplatin...because the other drug gave some reaction.....the Paciltaxel.....

and in second round - they gave Carboplatin...with Albumin round Paciltaxel.....

it is not yet, known CA value after that seound round.....

But comparing to first CA value - prior to chemo - it almost doubled in that first round of chemo with only one drug ?

Does that mean chemo is working ?

But in relation to life style
a) her ascites fluid is almost gone
b) no back pain
c) she can walk 15 min a day.....

All these after that first - one drug - chemo ?

Another question is : if they said, its spread over lever, how can it be sure ? Is there any lever specific test ? Or only way to know this - Open and see by naked eye ? Even CT cannot confirm this .....??????

I am not sure I understand your questions. What was her CA-125 before and after first chemo?

Sometimes the CA-125 does rise after first chemo, particularly if there was an allergic reaction to one of the medications. They may do three chemo cycles before the make a determination as to whether the chemo is working or not.

If she had surgery, they would be able to see metastatic lesions on the liver, and they probably biopsied them as well.

It is a good sign that she is walking, and her ascites are gone.

so, metastatic lesions on the liver cannot be 100% confirmed without either biopsy of lever cell or seeing by naked eye ?

CT scan cannot confirm that, correct ?

A CT scan combined with a PET scan could confirm the liver lesions.

My friend was also allergic to one of the front line chemos and received the albumin formulation. She is now in remission.

Most likely I'm thinking of

a) peritonial cancer or
b) endometriosis cancer

Her ascites fluid is almost 60% gone.....after first line of treatment only in 1'st round

In 2'nd round - she got both first and second line of treatments - I mean both Chemos.....

The result yet to be out......
