Budwig Diet and Chemotherapy

0 Recommendations

I was wondering if anyone has had positive results from BudWig diet while taking chemotherapy. I have heard some great stories from a lot of cancer patients but most of them chose to stop chemotherapy and go with the budwig protocol. There might be certain properties of chemotherapy that may work against the Budwig protocol.

Unfortunately, I have to take chemo since it helps fight against my ascites.

Please let me know if anyone has tried this before or has tried the protocol along with some other medications.

I have not done the Budwig diet. However, I would not give up the chemo. It has not been proven that the diet works as well as the chemo. Perhaps, you can do both if they don't interfere with each other.

What is the Budwig diet?

I am off the chemo and do the Budwig (flax oiland cttage cheese) and added essiac tea to my regimine. Chemo took me to the brink twice and my husband and I decided we'd try just budwig. I didn't have the scan as they couldn't find a vein to put the dye in so it was done without contrast and te doctor said it was worthless. I amm feeling pretty good went to FL for 3 months and to Daytom for a week end and hope to plan another trip even though I'm in hospice right now who knows what the future brings. Blessings to my fellow sisters (both he/she) in feeling better and into remissions.

My oncologist knows about my budwig and has encouraged me in doing that so it's good for now.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
This is a good website to get information on the BudWig diet:

I do the Budwig breakfast....I don't know if it's doing anything, but I am in remission. I did do chemo and maintenance chemo. I can't imagine the ingredients doing any harm. I know a Stage 4 ovca survivor who does the breakfast and has been in remission for 10 years.

I've been on the Budwig for awhile now...love it! I would also recommend ground ginger for you...I juice a large carrot, a couple celery stalks, an apple and 1/4t. ground ginger every day...especially remember the ginger...it's a cancer fighter :)

God bless you!

Abbaschild is it fresh ground ginger or are you using the capsule that are ground and measure that.

dollycat6

I can get ground ginger from our Earth Fare supermarket..which is a natural, organic supermarket. I can buy it bulk...it's not the capsules but I know some of the girls do take the capsules. I just put a quarter teaspoon in my juice every day.

Turmeric is good too. Coffee enemas and a positive attitude. Not being focused on the cancer so much but on making the necessary changes in your life that will bring peace in your heart and feel that whatever is going to happen is going to be good because you feel good with where you are at. I do the Gerson Therapy. I have good success with people who are ready to make changes in their life. Intravenous vitamin C is also good.

The Budwig diet takes about 6 months before you see any effect, and the flax oil has to be thoroughly blended with the cottage cheese. I would not stop chemo unless it was either not working, or you could not stand the side effects. Some herbs that are reallyh good for OV CA are: astragalus, ginseng, gingko, ginger, artimisinin (wormwood), curcumin, quercetin and IP6/Inositol. To keep my bone marrow healthy during chemo I take Maitake-D, shark liver oil and a red root tonic from Oregon. I've had almost no side effects from chemo, and people tell me I look better now than before I got sick. I have stage IV, with mets to the liver and lung, but praise God, I feel well and can continue to work part time.

I thought that we needed to limit flax and flax seed oil because flax is estogen receptive? What about the casesin in the cottage cheese? I am NOT trying to be smart just find out information, please. Also how do ya'll feel about the natural sugars in fruit? I am staying with ones that are low on the glycemic index. Thank you so much for your help in advance.

I've read about women who have followed the Budwig plan while doing chemo. One went into remission for the first time after five years of cancer & chemo. The other became cancer free without the side effect of chemo. A year ago, I was diagnosed with a small amount of cancer in a lymph node; the Budwig plan eliminated it. I then helped my friend follow the full Budwig plan after she stopped chemo because the tumors were spreading. She had estrogen positive breast cancer with mets to her bones. In three months on the full Budwig plan, she went for another CT and was cancer free. There are many testimonials on the site linked below, info explaining the plan and videos showing how to do the program. This is how we learned it. All the foods in the diet are shown by researchers to be cancer-fighters. I did a lot of Googling & reading before starting it. http://www.budwigvideos.com

A friend strongly recommends Budwig protocol. He has lung cancer. After taking the regimen for 2 weeks, he had high fever and bloody urine. Has anybody experienced this?
I am hesitant to go on this because I am under chemo.
My other concern is cottage cheese is considered as dairy, which is something we should avoid.
Any suggestions?

The Budwig diet is phenominal -- I am in the process of organizing a controlled study on this protocol with a large ammount of people privately. My goal is to make sure a majority of the world is aware of this diet.

My reason behind it.

So far I have recommended this diet to 2 people I know. 1 with Bone cancer 1 with Stomach Cancer.

These 2 individuals started the diet vigorously -- They did not MIX the diet with Chemo and/or Radiation...As Dr. Budwig clearly states that any deviation from the STRICT guidlines can make matters WORST.

Anyway -- these 2 individuals do NOT have cancer. After 2-3 months of the diet, their Doctors are unable to find any trace of cancer.

Within 1-2 months , they see smaller and smaller tumors...eventually, GONE.

What concern do you have with the cottage cheese?
High Cholestorol??

There is no such thing as this....and I firmly believe Dr. Budwig's concept.. See this exerp on Cholestoral:

"
Question 75: Can anyone comment on the impact of taking cottage cheese daily (at least say 1 cup per day as per the general Budwig Protocol instructions) on one's cholesterol level? Even though cottage cheese is low-fat cheese, it still contains cholesterol.

"

Answer:
I always have to laugh when I see this question. First of all, dietary cholesterol, the cholesterol that is found in food form, has virtually NO effect on cholesterol found in the blood stream....this is an established fact.

The rise in cholesterol is not such a bad thing - it may even be good. If total Cholesterol divided by HDL is less than 3.5, it is OK.

Every hormone in your body is made from cholesterol. In fact, low cholesterol is a risk factor for death-especially if you lowered it with statin drugs. Which I hope you are not taking. [Indeed! The side effects of statin drugs include permanent liver and kidney damage, memory impairment etc.*]

If your cholesterol is under 300 (maybe even higher) you probably should not be too worried about your level. "High Cholesterol" is a myth created by the Rx Drugs, medical establishment, and the government in support of the hydrogenated oil$$/margarine makers$ who denigrated the good, omega-3 fatty acids and healthy natural oils, coconut oil, palm oil, and animal fats which have been proven to support liver and general health. When this latter group of fats are consumed, the liver will make only so much cholesterol as is needed to fulfil and balance the body.

In addition to the manufacture of hormones, which regulate and control functions, Cholesterol is required by so many basic, life-sustaining functions of the body: for instance making bile salts, which digest fats and allow absorption of minerals, without which the body cannot live; also the brain is 40% cholesterol. A side effect of high cholesterol is "feeling good". In a state of low cholesterol, you will be required to take more of the pharmaceutical industry’s unnatural Rx poisons. Studies have shown that seniors with lowest cholesterol have greater senility.

This is a part of the great misinformation campaign regarding "health", promoted by those who profit from sale of "refined franken foods" without sustaining value to the human body. These are the same people who put fluoride in our water [with high correlation to cancer incidence], mercury in our mouth, preservatives and plastics in our food, cancer-causing teflon (perfluoroctanoic acid) in our cookware, and depleted uranium in US soldiers' ammunition and bodies.

Further, they are the same ones who tell us that their synthetic, man-made drugs, surgery or poisons are the only things allowed to "treat", while preserving, our diseases. Sadly, it truly is all about money - and only that. No serious effort is made to cure.

In sum: Rising cholesterol may be OK. Doctors (pharmaceutical houses) have blown cholesterol levels way out of proportion. As mentioned, you need to pay some attention to your levels. However 50% of heart attacks are with people who have "normal" or low cholesterol levels. If you really want to know if you have plaque buildup in your arteries you need to test for c-reactive protein (CRP) and homocysteine levels. Both together will give you a better picture if you are at risk for cardiovascular disease. (credits: members of a Budwig diet discussion group)

Here's a good video to watch about how to make up the cottage cheese/flax seed breakfast. I do it every morning the exact way as on the video and LOVE it :) I change the fruit occasionally like when blueberries are too expensive. I also chop up like half a large bag of nuts and put them in a jar in the refrigerator so it doesn't take the extra time to chop them up every day. I also buy organic lowfat cottage cheese so I'm not getting any of the added hormones and antibiotics given to the animals.
