Have you tried acupuncture? I used acupuncture after my chemo treatments and have found it very helpful.

No, I have not. Thanks so much!

Hi Pockets.
I also had bone pain and fatigue as my worst side effects to the chemo. The fatigue was partly due to my hemaglobin being only 8. I received Neulasta which helped increase this count quickly for me. The bone pain, I took Oxycodone, it was ordered as 1-2 tabs. every 4 hours and there were times I needed it every 4 hours. The medicine relieved the pain and allowed me time to rest. I had to try several pain relievers before finding something that worked. Hope you find what works for you, hang in there!

Try acupuncture I have been doing it now for 5 years and found it really helps with pain and discomfort.
I did acupunture when I had a reaccurance with cancer and found it help with my pain and relieved most of the nausea that sometimes you get from doing chemo.

You should really talk to your doctor about this and find out what's causing it and what they can do to relieve it. If your red and/or white cell counts are low, you might need Procrit or Neulasta.

One of the other ladies recently posted about extreme fatigue and when she checked with her doctor they discovered she needed a blood transfusion because her counts were so low. They said she'd feel much better once she had it.

Talk to your doctor. I hope you get some relief soon.

My mom takes a Neulasta shot after every treatment (she also does Tax and Carboplatin), although that doesn't completely take care of all of the aches, I think that it has helped her quite a bit. All she will take after that is Tylenol, although I've been trying to get her to take something stronger.

I also have bone pain (which I think is caused more by the Neulasta I must take to keep my wbc up), and fatigue (which I think is caused a lot by not being able to sleep well due to the bone pain).

Walking a long distance (over a mile) really seems to help the bone pain during the day, and taking hot water bottles to bed helps at night. My symptoms only last about 3 days, start a couple of days after chemo.

Hope this helps.

Try support socks or stockings. Get the kind that squeeze your feet as well as your legs. (Footsmart has some.) I found it even helped my hands!

Hello,

I also had bone pain while on treatment and pain killers (prescription ones) did not seem enough. In the end we had to switch from Neulasta to another (Granulokine) which is up to 5 injections on different days but much less pain. I also found that walking (even around the house) eased the pain. Thes switch did not comprise the effort to raise white blood count and for me it was great help.

All the best

How many chemos have you had? I had horrible bone pain with the first one, but never again. Of course, I had everyone I knew praying about it!

Definitely tell your oncologist. They should be able to help you.

Maybe its because I walk 3 miles each day I never get pain, I really must be very fortunate not to get this, I had 4 rounds of treatment already , had cancer one time before and never get any of this , I really feel compassion for all of you who get bone pain.....

As for Neulasta what makes me not get pain is I start taking extra strength tylanol 3 to start 2 hours before the shot, 2 pills for 5 days afterward every 6 hours...no pain no anything....

My pain started with the 3rd round. I am 4 months post chemo and the pain has returned. During chemo, I tried different meds and what finally helped was skelaxin(sp) which is a muscle relaxer and vicadin. It never made it go completely away but dulled the pain enough so that it was tolerable and I could stand and walk again. I will be picking up a new med tomorrow not sure what yet as the pain is quite severe at the end of the day and I can't sleep. I am on my feet a good portion of the day, ride my horse and am very active thinking it should help.....will see

Neulasta is for low White Blood count not for Anemia.
I recently finished 6 cycles of Taxol and Carboplatin. Fortunately my counts recovered after each cycle so I had no delayed treatments nor did I need growth factors like Neulasta. I had very severe bone pain after the 1st 3 cycles and just as my Oncologist told the bone pain caused by the Taxol lessened with the last 3 cycles.

Hi,Im sorry to hear you're having such bad side effects. When I was taking carbol/taxol the only things that helped were tylenol#3 and this incredible visualization tape (yes... a cassette... Yep, I know its old school) and it was by Health Foundations and the title was Pain- Guided Imagery by Belleruth Naperstek. I found it at Gildas club. Also,if you can move it helps. I found walking my dog helped. But the cassette really allowed me to sleep while going through the bone pain of carbo/taxol. I thought it was crazy at first but it really did help. I hope you get some relief from your pain.

I also had really bad bone pain. I tried a few different drugs until we found one that worked for me. It was called Tramacet, which is Tramadol and Acetaminophen mixed together. I also had tried many other options but did not find anything else that worked as well. I did yoga, hot baths, etc. Good Luck with everything. Once my chemo was done so was the pain.

I was also on the same chemo as you are.
