Thank you for letting us know about this! I hadn't heard of it until today. It brings tears to my eyes to know that fourth graders are behind this wonderful event!

I am going to try and round up some family members and friends to join me there next week! Everyone wants to beat cancer...and all true Buckeyes want to beat Michigan...what could be better!?!

Hi! Wondered if you made it to the walk? I'm in Cleveland and work on Saturdays so I was not able to attend. Hope they do this again next year, I will take the day off and head down.

Hello!

Yes, we made it to the walk and I am so glad that we did!! (I meant to post about it yesterday but I lost track of my day!) The walk was amazing. It was my first experience doing something like this and I was nervous about being emotional because I am such a huge sap! Of course, I shed some tears especially when one of the fourth graders, who lost her Mom last year to ovarian cancer, spoke to the crowd right before we started. She was so brave and spoke so eloquently and I just stood there and cried!

My husband said they announced that over 500 people had registered for the race...but it seemed like so much more because there were kids everywhere! They were helping with everything and selling Buckeye necklaces. Some of the kids and their parents were along the route of the race cheering people on...it was an awesome experience.

I do have to say that seeing all these kids so excited and actually participating in the fight against this disease...not only makes me extremely humble but it also inspires me to want to do more! Thank you so much for posting about this walk. It was such a great experience!!

I'm so glad you were able to attend! My husband and I were so impressed when we heard about these kids! We're part of a local ovarian cancer awareness group in Cleveland called OROC (OutRun Ovarian Cancer) www.oroc.org. Our big awareness event is a 5k run/walk in August, we know what a huge project it is and for those kids to have over 500 participate for their first run is awesome!!

I was so impressed by it too!! Especially when we went into the gym after the race for snacks and to buy raffle tickets, etc... There were tables set up everywhere with buckeye necklaces and other buckeye stuff to purchase. Every table had these kids running it! Collecting money, rearranging the merchandise, restocking it...it was unbelieveable! There was even a Buckeye nut mascot running around in a costume that the kids themselves made. Their parents should be very proud of them and what they accomplished.

Thanks again for posting about it! I'm glad we were a part of it!

I read about these kids on the internet. Incredible. Just coming up with the idea of tying their walk in with college football was genius!
