My wife Patty had her 2nd Avastin treatment and within 5 days her energy level just tanks. She is tired all the time and sleeps a lot. Have any of you experienced that and what are you doing for it? Thanks.

I've only had one treatment so far and, yes, I find that I am totally exhausted. I'm into week 2 and don't feel as tired this week, but last week was awful. There is not much you can do for it - just give in to it and get lots of rest.
I had heard this is a common side effect. Still, she should tell her doctor when she sees him so they can monitor her reactions. Hope we both do well on it!
This past sunday we had a cancer care meeting at our church. The guest speaker was a PT for cancer patients.
He says that walking 3 - 5 hours a week can improve odds for survival 50%. He also explained that if a cancer patient suffers from fatigue, there is a program that has a PT work with them on posture, breathing, and movement to conserve energy as well as exercise programs to boost energy. The website is www.therapeuticsolutions.com
Please go to this website and read and hopefully call.
My prayers are with you,
Debbie
So far, Patty's CA-125 has dropped from 135 to 61 with one treatment. Real test will be the CT scan next week. Thanks for the feedback.
Good luck and God Bless,

Debbie,
Thank you for sharing this good information. I'll check it out.
All the best.
i just had my 3rd avastin treatment-and i feel just the opposite. i have now had a total of 83 chemotherapy treatments, all varieties. this one is the least problem. no pre meds, lots of energy, working out. i feel i have my life back. based on reading this, i must reaffirm, that GOD is definitely walking with me, praise him, praise him. i wish your wife well. the avastin has finally got my ascites under control, as i had been drained 28 times, the last time i was drained was 2 days before i started this chemo, and now, i do not need drained, again, praise GOD. and then of course, those words i love to hear from my doc, as long as you are"stable" which he feels i am once again stable, yahoo, praise the lord....
Thanks for the good news. Good news is something to rejoyce about.
God's blessings,
tomd
That's great news sbender3! I just started a clinical trial that includes avastin, weekly taxol and sorafenib. I had ascites filling up to where I was getting drained 4 liters every week. Yuck! But after one tx it stopped. Yeah! I do have a great deal of fatigue and am hoping it wanes a bit so I can start walking. God is good! Hoe you continue to improve!
