Anyone familiar with the work of Byron Katie?

I have recently been introduced to "the work" of Byron Katie and am finding it to be a great blessing in my life. She is the author of several books, including Loving What Is. She has a wonderful website: www.thework.com

I had not heard of this author, but I have read Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life" which seems to have a similar theme -- resolving internal & external conflicts and using affirmations and gratitude to make the best of your life now. She is a cancer survivor (she vaguely says "vaginal cancer" - I cannot find out what specifically she had) who has used her practices to keep herself in remission. (She does add that she used western medicine in addition to alternative practices as part of her treament, and has changed her diet since then to aid in her health). I also have the movie version of the book. Its very powerful. http://www.youcanhealyourlifemovie.com/
Thanks for the book suggestion - I am trying to fend off "chemo brain" by keeping my brain challenged through reading.

Hi Ohmama123!

Thanks for your reply! I was introduced to Louise Hay's book, You Can Heal Your Life, about 17 years ago and it changed my life! I also have the movie version, and I agree, it is wonderful! Thank you for providing the link. I hope others check it out.

Are you familiar with Esther and Jerry Hicks and the teachings of Abraham? Eckhart Tolle? Wayne Dyer? We are very blessed to have so many wonderful teachers in our world right now.

I'm going to Ann Arbor this weekend with my 16 year old son to see Byron Katie speak at a Unity church, and am so excited. If you want to check her out go to www.thework.com and scroll down a bit to the "Oprah Interview". It's a 3 part interview, each part about 20 minutes long. I've watched it several times and it's always time well spent!

It's nice to find someone else who's "on the same page" so to speak.

Peace and many blessings,
Mary

Thank you for all of the suggestions Mary! This type of reading is all new to me but I did connect with it -- I think its important to remain positive and be grateful despite statistics and diagnosis. I actually take out the movie and watch it when I need some strength or optimism & it lifts me up every time. I will definitely check out the interview. Enjoy the speaking event this weekend! I hope you are able to take a lot from it!

Hi Kristin!

Did you ever see the movie, The Secret? I watched it several times and it too had quite a positive impact. Another good movie is What the Bleep Do We Know. It stars Marlee Matlin and is part fiction and part documentary. I watched that one several times, too. I find with most of this kind of information, repeated readings/viewings are quite helpful.

All the best to you!

Mary

Thanks! The same to you!

Please be careful! Check out this in-depth report on Byron Katie by a former insider to her organization:

Best to you :-)
