Any Recommendations in Sarasota (as far as Tampa)

0 Recommendations

Hello everyone - anyone. I have been a relatively silent observer here. Learning, being inspired + motivated, finding guidence + support. I am caring for my mom, who was diagnosed in June with stage IV OvCa. Never sick a day in her life and fiercely independant - it rocked her world and mine.

She is taking her 6th treatment in early November. As a celebration I would like to take her to Sarasota. I am planning to leave just after her treatment but prior to her labs (7 days later). Her Dr is on board, but I must say we have been spoiled by his practice, and I am not psych'd about just going to a general lab or hospital. The past 3 treatments she has had to get a 'booster' shot on lab day. Dr West has a totally inclusive practice (office visits, chemo treatments, labs, boosters). I may not be able to find the same, but would love to heard from any of you brave women or humble caregivers about suggestions...where should I take her? who should she see?

I appreciate in advance your time and consideration and most of all, I wish for each of you, peace and love.

I live in sarasota! I dealt with moffit in tampa but my oncologist is Caryn Silver. She is the best! Also, if you need an gyn/onco, his name is James Fiorica. Although I didn't know it at the time, he was the best you could get at Moffit! He was my surgeon and now is head of the womens cancer unit at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. All are close to each other. If I can be of any help, please e-mail me at: kmarienap@yahoo.com.

Hi,
It is great to know that you and your mother are coming to Sarasota is a beautiful place. I live here since 2003. I also recommend Dr James Fiorica, he is the best, he is my angel, he saved my life!! Dr Fiorica is a gyn/onc so he does not deal with labs, treatments, shots etc. For this kind if care I recommend Dr. Luis Chu at Florida Cancer Specialists. He is incredible, he sincerely cares a lot, and is really on top of all your treatments and meds to make it as bearable as possible. This clinic has everything in house and Dr Chu prefers to have everything done right there so there are no variables.
I love Dr Chu and all the staff at Florida Cancer Specialists.
My best wishes in your trip to Sarasota, and please if you have time visit Siesta Key beach for sunset, is a magical experience.
All my love
Tuly

While Orlando is not that close in proximity as Moffitt to Sarasota - I believe the best all inclusive practice is at the Florida Cancer Institute at Florida Hospital South. The practice is made up solely of gyn/onc and, like your practice, does the surgery, chemotherapy, labs, etc. Dr. Finkler is the one I recommend and is well known. They are right off I-4 at Princeton. IF you need any further information, let me know.

Mom saw Dr Chu yesterday. He and everyone @ FCC was/were fantastic. Dr Chu was everything Tuly said. Kind, caring, attentive, approachable. I could go on, but I won't, as I need to get out and take photos of todays sunset. I am photo journaling our adventures in a Facebook photo album so the jealous folks back home can see. Anyone who would like to see, can let me know. If any of you local ladies would like to have a cup of joe or a glass of wine...we are here until 11/28. Thank you for all you support and recommendations.
