Another Surgery

0 Recommendations

ON October 20th I will be having yet another surgery to remove cancer from my abdomen.

The Doctor will remove the cancer and basically rinse me out like a Thanksgiving turkey, then check everything to see if it's ok.

I know it's crazy and silly and even RIDICULOUS but...

I'm not dreading the surgery as much as I am dreading drinking that DAMN Go Lightly!

WHO NAMED IT THAT ANYWAY?

You POOP FOR HOURS AND HOURS!!! You don't 'Go Lightly' !!!

My family won't be here from Michigan this time. Hubby needs to stay at work so he can use his vacation days to help me at home. Any Cards or Letters would REALLY be appreciated to help with the long days at the hospital!

Thanks everyone!

You crack me up Kibbie. Is Go Lightly the gallon jug of stuff that feels all slimy and makes you gag? I did that one for a colonoscopy. Then I had to do the Mag Citrate (lemon flavor... NOT... bitter flavor is a better name) for my surgery a few weeks later. Disgusting stuff for sure.

Hope the surgery goes well. Will keep you in my prayers!

Hi Kibbie, I mailed you a card I recently created. I was traveling back to Pennsylvania from Florida in August when I photographed this scene in Virginia. I also wrote the copy.

Hope you feel well.

lifeisgrand,

Yes .... that IS the 'stuff'. EWWWW!!!

He'll be messing with my colon (I'm sure Dr would 'love' my 'technical terminology') so I see SOME TYPE of Go Lightley cocktail in my future!

LOL
Thanks for the Prayers~!

lovemnms,

Thank you! I've been making 'Mail Art' myself the past week. I've really enjoyed it and have surprised myself by my artistic talent! (If you can call 'doodling' artistic!)

I will keep the card until I'm in the Hospital bored to tears. Thank you SO VERY much!

What's with these doctors anyway. Before my surgery I mentioned to him that the "prep" had brought my bloating down and my waist was about 4 inches smaller. The last thing he said to me on the way into surgery was "With your symptoms, it is likely I'll need to give you a bag". A bag.... like it's a new purse of something. Geez... lucky for me all he got was my sigmoid colon. I've done quite well without it but will say I'm always happy once the deed is done every day. Fear of obstruction is right up there behind fear of recurrence.

You are so very welcomed. I hope all goes well.

Lifeisgrand: last week when I had my CAT scan the woman asked me what flavor "chalk milkshake" I would like. She had a whole variety. I asked her if they all tasted the same, and with a smile said yes.

There was an old woman next to me advocating the coffee mocha flavor! So, for anyone interested, this little old lady swears by the coffee mocha! I stuck with the vanilla. YUCK!

Yeah the first time through the chalk didn't seem half bad. But it's getting kind of old now :(... but better figure it will be part of my life for however long that turns out to be. Better the chalk than the slime. Sorry Kibbie... I'd help you drink it but that won't help you out much.

I am leaving the country and won't be near computer. I hope all goes well for you and you will be in my thoughts.

Kibbie, have you been in active treatment the whole time since you were diagnosed? It seems unbelievable.

Best of luck and I hope it goes really well.

Plonanon

Plonanon,

14 of the past 18 years I have done/had chemotherapy of one kind or another. I've had a few small breaks (3 weeks between last chemo and next surgery) That type of thing.. but yes. Hard to believe! Even for me!

Thanks fot the nice wishes and luck.

You must be near to setting some kind of record. (Can we send your information to the Guinness Book of World Records?) What was your stage at diagnosis and tumor type?

I have no idea of the tumor type. I've only ever heard that description on this site. I was in stage 3 C.

Guinness Book of World Records! Funny! Actually, there is so much cancer in our family, the American Cancer Society is doing a case study on our family!

Go figure! MY 15 minutes of fame and it happened for THIS!! LOL Sheesh!

You're pretty funny yourself! Most everything you say on here is amusing! Why don't you live in MY neighborhood? LOL

Well, your long and sucessful fight is an inspiration to me and I am sure to many others. One more hurdle to overcome. You can do it.

All the best and please keep us posted - when you feel up to it.

GEPI

Kibbie,
I think whoever named the stuff Go-Lightly didn't want to tell us how it really works! The hardest part for me was that my butt got so sore from sitting on the pot! I think I have a permanent imprint of the toilet on my backside. Could it be designated as "art"?

You are in my thoughts and prayers for successful surgery and quick recovery. Mary

Thinking of you as you go lightly -or many timely-but here's to a speedy recovery.

Kibbie,

I asked for pills last time I had to do the colon blast. It was easier to tolerate.

I'll be thinking of you.

Blessings.
