Animals and healing

I am fascinated by the many ways our animal friends help us through our difficulties. They have so much to offer us and do so selflessly. Do you have any interesting animal stories to share? How have they helped you heal? How do you feel they have been affected by your struggles? I invite you to my website to learn about the work I do..

Cancer Surgery Heart attack Stress

Our dog Riley stayed very close to me when I was going through chemo and was not feeling well. They sense our difficulties. Riley is a pitbull mix and the most loving of dogs. I couldn't have gotten through this without him....he is loves so unconditionally. He definitely gave me great comfort and helped me fight my cancer.

All you have to do is look at my name and that tells you iam a cat lover. The day before my surgery last year we lost our 9 yo Fred to heart failure. The vet said he would never make it to the new year when he had his heart attack on halloween.Well I took care of him, and he survived months after the vet said he would be gone.Thats the power of love for my pets. When I was diagnosed 10 days before surgery, he knew something was wrong, or maybe he was knowing himself his time was almost up, but needless to say he was my loving companion, cuddling when I cried and head butting me when I was dazed.I miss him soo much.We picked him up from the vet the day of my surgery 4-1-08.and buried him in his favorite spot outside(he only went in the veg. garden that was gated)put grass in his grave and his favorite toy, I never saw my hubby cry so much. That was the suckies day of my life(well one of several the others when I lost two previous cats)On mothers day we got another cat George, and he is almost the minnie me of Fred.No cat will ever replace him, and I tell George stories of Fred and how they would have enjoyed each others company. So, I have 3 cats and volunteer at the spca, a low cost spay/neuter clinic and help out at petsmart.I love animals and they are my escape and passion to help them.Keep Positive.

I have 2 cats and a dog, all rescues. When I was going through my surgery and home from work for 2 months, my animals surrounded me constantly. It was a big breathrough for my dog and my oldest cat who never really got along. They both slept with me every night. Anyone who says animals are 'dumb' are the dumb ones. I don't know what I would have done without their comfort.

My friend went to Africa to help train big cats then mothered a motherless Lynx to adulthood (I have his pictures all over my apartment as she visits him twice weekly in the nature center and he still knows and loves her). My sister-in-law has a pommeraniane ?sp and a yorkie who both visit (we live in the renovated garage with her and her hubby as we RV) and the yorkie is 12 weeks loves sitting where my abd aches so it's like my own heating pad that breathes! So cute and I love it.

Oh Lord, yes I know all about pets and healing.

I used to be a dog person but for the last 4 or 5 years I've become a cat lover.
My baby 'Lil Carly looked past my disability and my wheelchair and loved me as is. She was an outdoor cat and any time hubby would push me outside, she'd come running up and hop in my wheelchair with me. She'd rub her face and head all over my face. She had the lightest little meow. She was 1yr. old when she had her first litter of kittens and she was unfortunately attacked by a big stray dog a week and a half later. She had 3 babies left without a mama. Luckily my sister next door had 2 mama cats that were nursing too. One of them found my cats babies and nursed them. We didn't know if the kittens had made it because she moved them a few days before she was taken from us and hubby couldn't find them.
I was hopeful, but not sure that they were found and taken care of. I stressed so bad for a few months and I believe that stress was part of what brought me out of remission for my first recurrence to happen.
Low and behold...my sister came in one day last summer in the middle of my chemo with a kitten almost 4 months old. Tiger is so much like 'Lil Carly, it isn't funny. He's definitely her son. He is an indoor cat, along with our other cat, Dixie, that's 5yrs. old.
I'll post pics of my cats this weekend.
Unfortunately...we've had 3 dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge over the past 2yrs.
Sport was 16...Austin was 9...and Bear was 9.
Our daughter has 2 dogs outside now...Ginger and Doodle Bug.
