Alternative Therapies? Urgent Help Needed

0 Recommendations

My wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer in June, 2008. She had surgery to remove one large tumor at that time and then began Chemo. By January, 2009 her CA-125 count was below 20, but was back up to over 1300 by June 2009. Her cancer is platinum resistent. She had another major surgery in June, 2009 to remove kinks and old tumors in her interstine that were preventing her from digesting food. She resumed Chemo, but in on August 28 she was re-admitted to the hospital with a temperature of 103 degrees. She had an infection from the incision made in June, 2009. While in the hospital, she had a stroke. She has recovered from the stroke, but is very weak as a result of the Chemo, the infection and the stroke. Her kidneys are not functioning properly and has to have dialysis treatments. Her oncologist is stating it will be weeks before she will be strong enough to resume Chemo. Meantime, the cancer is still growing. The doctors do not think she has more than 4 months to live.

Belatedly, we are beginning to research alternative treatments, including treatments that emphasize mind over matter, such acuunpture, hypnosis, visualization techniches, etc. We are also beginning to investigate special cancer diets and supplements that are designed to bolster the immune system. Some one has suggested Essiac Tea..

We are aware that the area of alternative treatrments is probably full of deceptive and misleading information. We need help quickly from anyone who can help us research alternative treatments. What really works and what does not.?

Check out website "Crazy Sexy Cancer" about a woman who has a rare cancer and lives on wheat grass and a very alternative diet. It's an inspiring story and her website also offers tips and other advice. Her story was made into a documentary by the same name - very well done -

Please check it out and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

I feel that anything as long as it isn't harmful is worth trying ! All that things that you mentioned can not hurt . I have read many books on positive thinking for self healing and healing foods and I seem to be keeping my cancer at bay ! I drink the Essiac Tea too. Juicing is very powerful as well. I think all of this is worth trying to live ! So many people rely ONLY on western medicine and what the doctors say will help you, but I think we should all practice the natural methods as well. It isn't always easy, but very worth it.
Good Luck, and I will pray for you both.

check out this website:
http://www.gerson.org/g_therapy/get_started.asp
Your wife needs urgent treatment. It's difficult to do it on your own. Gerson therapy gives the patient lots of fresh juice and enemas, and cleanses the system completely! Take care.

I have been seeing an acupunturist for neuropathy and cervical spodylosis. But he also helped my energy levels my immune system and stress. You want to make sure you find a good Doctor. This is my my drs website as you can see he is also a licensed physician http://www.rmac.yourmd.com/

I agree with the alternative therapy. I also am in agreement with the Gerson therapy...I juice organic carrots, apple, celery and ground ginger which is a cancer fighting juice. I also do the organic cottage cheese and flaxseed which is shown on this video on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoddptWL0s
I really enjoy it every morning!

But the one thing I am so adamant about is mangosteen juice. I buy it online from a company that uses the whole fruit thereby taking advantage of all the xanthones which I believe fights cancer chemically. I have researched this extensively and truly believe it will kill cancer cells.

If you want to talk to me further, accept me as a friend and we can correspond. I can give you websites to find this information. I also do near infrared treatments at home as my husband easily constructed a way to take advantage of this heat treatment that is known to kill cancer cells.

There are natural, easy ways to fight this cancer. I do highly recommend the Gerson Institute and their therapy of which I have done some of it on my own. I eat organic fruits and vegetables and have cut out most meat except for organic chicken.

I wish only the best for you and your wife and will be praying for you both as you make decisions on which way to go. I wouldn't give up!

Blessings and hugs to you both!

I too am stage IV since diagnosis, resistant to platinum and just about every other chemo as well. I am going on alternatives only at this point. The things most helpful have been: a diet of 80% vegetables, mostly raw, no fruit except berries and melon, almost no meat, wheat or dairy and NO sugar. I drink the juice of carrot, celery, parsely, apple and a little beet every day. It is very potent for fighting cancer. Three supplements that I feel are a "must" are AveMar, ImmPower and low dose naltrexone 3 mg. at bedtime. The last item is prescription only and you will have to get it from a compounding pharmacist. If the cancer is growing rapidly, some chemo will be necessary to slow it down. I would recommend tissue sensitivity studies from the Weisenthal lab in California if insurance will pay for it or if you can afford it. You will know ahead of time if the chemo will work or not, and how well. A great remedy, if the tumor responds is high dose intravenous vitamin C. It didn't work in my case because my cancer was resistant to it, but other people have had wonderful results. All this can be researched on the Internet. If you have any other questions, get back to me.

Please look up Ph miracle Diet by Dr Robert Young - I saw drastic changes in my blood within 10 days of doing this strict diet by you have to be willing to give up a lot of bad food!
www.phmiracleliving.com
Also read cancerangel.com- she did this diet! Get the bowels clean, do the full diet and give up sugar and anything that converts to sugars, get lots of greens in, get the phour salts, infrared sauna and lymphatic massage

Oops I forgot this : get 20 minutes of daily unsunscreened sun early morning or afternoon-on arms and legs
If she can get some energy healing and go get a Oneness blessing,, prayer, and laughter (rent funny movies or watch comedy) google it and find a meditation and blessing practitioner nearby, Do yoga(I suggest Bikram if you can handle it, take it slow- go together) and meditation is amazing (the Gap is a good book, scientific Affirmations by Yogananda is a great little book to read and reflect on and cd,by Wayne Dyer) or look up Centerpoint, Bill Harris mediation cds

Whatever you chose please make sure the supplements do not compromise her kidneys more than they are at this time.

There are plenty of unscrupulous people who will try to prey on your desperation. The field of alternative medicine is still new. Many therapies are only anecdotally successful.

I am impressed with what I have learned so far abut the Block Center in Evanston, Illinois. They are reputable and practice integrative oncology...recognizing that there is a place for traditional Western medicine combined with complementary medicine. They place a heavy emphasis on diet and on treating the whole person. In your shoes, I would call them for advice.

Bets wishes to you both.

I use essiac tea and coffee colonics as well as juicinf.

Oh yes most imporyant Budwig protocol in the am.

You have received some very good advice from all these women!
Another website to check out is www.meridianmedical.org. Dr Raymond Chang combines alternative and conventional medicine which should give your wife a fighting chance.
I keep hearing about the Block Center in Evanston, Illinois so I presume it is also a centre of excellence.

There is quite a lot your wife can do for herself so that the cancer can be attacked from all fronts.
A poor diagnosis from a doctor does not mean anything. He is talking about statistics involving conventional medicine. Your wife can start including other methods of dealing with her condition and the women on this site have given you plenty to think about in that respect.

Hi Everyone;

A lot of very helpful info here -- thanks!

There is a lot alternative therapies can do. I believe havng a very positive attitude, and using the methods suggested here that you feel drawn to will greatly bolster the traditional treatment.

I am very new at this and can only share information I have found. I do not have any personal experience as to how effective laetrile/B-17 is, but here's a website with a lot of info. http://www.cancure.org/laetrile.htm

I buy my kernals online and am very happy with the quality. I tried using kernals from fresh apricots, but like the ones I get from http://www.apricotpower.com. They also have supplements from apricot kernals.

Hope this info is helpful.

Maybe the Mayo Clinic advice may help?

HI, how is your wife doing? I have posted extensively on another thread here about different books I have read and that I find very infiormative and helpful. From all my readings, I would contact the Block Center as soon as possible. They can help your wife. There are many different treatments/approaches out there and I believe that the solution is not in one single supplement like Laetrile, but approaching the cancer from different angles and combining different therapies, diets, nutrients, spices, etc. At the Block Center they will look at your wife as an individual and adapt their treatment to her specific needs. There is no one size fits all approach there. I think that is the only way to go - everybody is different and reacts differently to drugs as well as to supplements, etc...
Good luck and let us know what you have decided to do. And I hope that your wife is doing better already!

I have been battling this beast for nearly 7 years and I too have been hospitalized quite a bit this summer and have had 2 major abdominal surgeries all this year. My kidneys were accidently sewn shut but I had a stint put in. My doctors have given up hope for me as well and I'm trying the alternative route as well. I'm trying to get my body to an alkaline state so that the cancer can not survive in my body. I got a juicer and I have been juicing during the day, trying meditation, crystals; lots of positive thoughts, yoga, what ever I can think of that works. Now it's up to god. My doctors give me 6 months, but I feel I have at least a couple more years left in me. I'm hoping and praying for the same for your wife. If she needs someone who has been there done that to talk to; please let her know know about me. I also have a blog that I feel helps many. I also have the post where I described in great detail the conversation where my doctor gave up on me.
wishing you all the best,
Jayne
