Aloe

Meanwhile I'm still looking for enhancers for statins, which include stuff that increases NO. (I've ordered viagra). I found studies that contradict each other on NO activity in aloe, but did find real interesting stuff - I know some of you are aloe fans so thought I'd share.

I've known that emodin is one of the more potent ingredients in aloe for cancer, but I've tried and tried and can't find any - they remove it from all U.S. products cause its a laxitive I guess. Anyway, some polysaccrides are also very potent. Acelelated mannose or acemannen is a potent immune enhancer in aloe which at least one study finds increases NO. It has been found effective against cancer in a number of studies and there is a supp of it called Av Ace-Imune.

I so have to find a way to support my supplement habit...

Emodin is not marketed in the U.S. because it's considered a hazardous substance and possible carcinogen.

That's rubbish, forgive my bluntness. This is the research I've done on it:

Emodin

Emodin is a plant compound found in buckthorn and aloe vera. It belongs to a family of compounds called anthraquinones, which have shown anti-inflammatory and anticancer effects. Emodin is known to have several anti-cancer properties including promoting apoptosis, inhibiting angiogenesis and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) 1-3. A study found that it had “strong effect” against tumor migration making it a weapon against metastasis 4.
Emodin enhanced chemotherapeutic drugs used in prostate cancer cells through “ROS-mediated suppression of multidrug resistance and hypoxia inducible factor- 1[HIF-1] 5.” The author concluded “emodin… may be recognized an effective adjunctive to improve efficacy of cytotoxic drugs in prostate cancer cells with over-activated HIF-1 and potent MDR 5.”
Aloe emodin (AE) was found to act as an antioxidant at low doses and pro-oxidant at higher doses 6. It selectively induced apoptosis in neuroblastoma cells. “Taking into account its unique in vitro and in vivo antitumor activity, selective toxicity, and cellular pharmacokinetics, AE can be viewed as a conceptually new lead anticancer agent that might contribute to the development of targeted nontoxic drugs 7.” It was also found to upregulate the tumor suppressor P53 gene while killing mutant P53 genes in neuroblastoma 8. It inhibited cervical cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner at the G2/M phase 9.
Emodin was found to reverse multidrug in lung cancer 10 and reversed resistance to Taxol in vivo in breast cancer by inhibiting tyrosine phosphorylation of human lung HER-2/neu transfectants. (Clinical Cancer Research Vol. 5, 343-353, February 1999)
Emodin is available from Chinese suppliers and can be purchased over the Internet from www.sciphar.com. Aloe emodin and cnidiadin extract are available from Xi’an Sino-Herb Biotechnology Co., Ltd or www.tradeindia.com.

I am currently taking an aloe extract called PME (Poly Mannose Extract). I take it twice a week in combination with my IV C treatments. I chose to take this because I had the "Greece Test" done and the PME showed a 80% kill rate on the cancer stem cells in my blood. When combined with the IV C, I had a 98% kill rate. That is worth my time and money.

Here is a link to more info on Aloe:

The hardest thing to do sometimes and the most time consuming is sort through the anti-alternative information mixed in with the true information. You just never know when or where it will pop up. When a blood test can confirm results the debate is over for me. Every test I have had since I stared my treatments have gotten better and better. In mid September I will be doing a recheck on the cancer stem cells and I expect a great result.

Hope this helps
Dana

That's wonderful. I didn't know you could test for stem cells. Does your ins cover that?

P.S. Where can I find the best price on Poly Mannose?

Dana,

I'm not finding any poly mannose products on the internet other than the one I posted called Av Ace-Imune. Is that what you take?

Here is the website of my Dr. it explains the test and gives example tests to look at:
http://www.atmctx.com/cancer-test/

No, insurance does not touch the cost of any of this. It makes to much sense and works.

The PME that I take I get from my Dr. and it goes in my IV it runs $80 each time. The "Greece test" looks at things for oral and IV. Like, I take vit C 5g oral and 6,000g by IV. Nothing is cheap but this does not cost as much as chemo. As far as I know the PME I take, is only available from a Dr. like mine.

People come in from all over the country take the "Greece test" and take the results back to their Dr. for treatment. He was also listed in the book by Suzanne Sommers for this test.

Thanks for this info on poly mannose. I have passed it on to my sister-in-law, who's a survivor. She has tested normal for more than 9 months now. She has been on a very high time-release anti-oxidant, Cantavita - www.cantavita.com. She had tried many other antioxidant supplements, like protocel and cantron - but some of the liquid supplement forms out there taste awful, or she would be taking 4-6 capsules a day!!

How often do you have to take poly mannose?

can you tell me how you found the doctor that you see? I'd like to find one in the Dallas area. What other treatments are offered there? Is it an alternative cancer clinic?

Brightasday can tell you about injections. I searched for trials for dose and found something that indicated 1g/d for the supp

After doing hours and hours of research I knew I wanted to try the IV C. So I started googling for clinics in the surrounding area that did them. I found his website and since he is just over in Rowlett TX, I went to see him.

I go see him twice a week for treatment. He does lots of different treatments. They treat pretty much all health problems. He believes in personalized treatments, no two people are exactly the same although some things are similar. Also He believes Alternative first, then traditional if you need it. Most of the other people that I have met in his office work with him and their onc or other dr. One lady I met there was referred to him by her Baylor onc.

As for dose on the PME it is a personal thing, for example they started me with a small dose and kept increasing it until I had an immune response, now I am holding steady.

I have also had an IV peroxide treatment there. I went and got a sinus infection, and since I have such a bad problem with antibiotics and yeast infection. I simply did not want to tear down my system with all that mess. It was wonderful, they used my medi port and 24 hours later I had no problems. Antibiotics do not work that fast or that well, one dose and it was over. I wish I had known about that years ago. It would have saved me a lot of wear and tear on my body.

Rowlett! That's in my backyard. I live in garland at I30 & Zion. Can you tell me the name? If I can afford it I'll go there.

Are you sure about the 6,000 g of C? I thought it was usually between 50 - 75g. There's 453 grams to a pound, so that's 13 pounds of vitamin C.

Did you see any drop in CA 125 from the peroxide treatment?

Thanks
Michele

Michele-- would you mind sharing with us a complete list of what you are taking now? or by PM if that is preferable for you?

thanks!

I feel like that's a tall order, but I'll do my best :-)

Regular stuff from my old list like 4,000 IU vit D, brocoli extract, green tea extract, garlic, 20mg melatonin..

Then there are things that fall into the 2 strategies I'm using:
1. Statin, Biphosphonate, Celebrex. (Also important don't take zinc on this program.)
Red yeast rice - 600 mg 2xd
300mg Q10 2xd
Actonel 35mg once weekly
Celebrex 200 mg 2xd, which I had to quit due to angina (I'm back to blaming it). I have found a number of addional compounds that enhance statins and one for enhancing biphosphonates. For biphosphonates high levels of calcium. it increases inhibition of protein prenylation. Upper limit is 2,400mg/d, so I take a gram 2xd

Anastrazole - is known to enhance both biphospates and statins

Statin enhancers include isoprenoids, triterpenes, tocotrienols, PPAR agonists, HDAC inhibitors and iNOS enhancers. Also imp. to note that statins are most effectove if eaten w/ fat/food. Best to take with fish oil.So add:

Fish oil
tocotrienols - best I've found called Unique Tocotrienol (125mg) (tocopherol-free) which is important cause they compete and tocopherols will inhibit tocotrienols if taken at the same time. I take 375-500mg in two doses. Studies indicate must be over 200mg.

carotenoid complex

Q10 I'm playing w/dose. Was 400mg 2xd, I'm now 300mg 2xd. This is essential as statins leach Q10 but it also fits in w/ part two of my strategy.

NO enhancer - I've ordered Viagra. Will start 50mg 5 days a week.
HDAC inhib - valproic acid I have some may add later

I eat tons of cinnamin if I didn't like it so much I'd use supp. It is a good triterpene.

2. Immune Enhancers
Avemar (Ave Ultra) I was excited about before I learned in was PARP inhib, MCH1 inhib, and prevents glucose uptake by cancer cells. I was excited cause I'd done research on vaccines and found most fail like any immune therapy cause activating Th1 eventually activates Th2 which signals to Treg cells to prevent apoptosis. Avemar is known to keep cells guided to Th1 pathway. So I thought it could also help other immune enhancers do their job without activating Tregs. So I added

olive leaf extract 1500mg 3xd
echinacae 800mg 2xd
Proboost (thymic protein A)
Natural Factors nondenatured whey 1 heaping scoop
Aloe juice (just ordered acemannen (Av Ace-Imune) Some cites claim it is NO enhancer also
AHCC 1500 mg 3xd I'm gonna bring that down a smidge cause it's so expensive

I think that covers it. I'm excited to learn about acemannen, it seems very helpful..

I forgot lactoferrin

That was a typo it is 60 grams IV C.

I hope to see you there.
