After chemo, then what?

0 Recommendations

I've been on chemo off and on since '02. Mastectomy took care of the breast cancer but now I'm having recurrences of Ovarian CA, Stage 3. Just finished third protocol and whatever the CAT scan shows next week, doc says we'll take a break from chemo as the tumor is small and not aggressive, if it's still there. But he wants me on leukoren (sp?), a pill one takes for six days and then again in six weeks. Has anyone been on it? I think he said it just keeps the status quo. My cancer will never be 'cured' and it's doubtful I'll ever go into remission but I have accepted it as a chronic condition and am living with it. Thanks.

Welcome to Inspire! You'll find us supportive, crazy , bluntly honest, and funny beyond imagination! We're all here for one reason...ovarian cancer.

All I can say after reading your bio is "wow"! You have been through ALOT! I'm sure you'll find the info you're looking for here amongst our sisters. Anytime you have any questions or problems...ask away! And share with us, too!

Blessings and hugs!!!

Thanks. I can tell you all are my kind of people....gotta have a sense of humor to get through the tough stuff!
I am so happy I found you all.

You have certainly had your share and more of the tough stuff. All our kids are adopted, and our eldest son is a lost cause. He has made at least one serious suicide attempt. I fear for him, but he has chosen to be out of our lives, so all I can do is hope for the best. Honestly, I suspect he will die of AIDS one day. Terrible to say, but it is what I truly believe. Some children come to us so damaged, whether organically or environmentally that we cannot save them. Unfortunately, love is not enough.

Welcome to our community. We share advice, support and offer shoulders to cry on.

I am not familiar with the medicine your doc has you on, but I sure hope it will do the trick. Have you tired Googling it?

I am still working on getting used to the idea that I have a chronic condition. I want it to go away!

Let us know how it goes.

All the best to you,
Jenn
