my daughter had her first chemo and woke up today[3rd day] with pain in her calves and knees and it went away..then she was nauseated and it went away and now she's complaining with "knife-like" pain stabbing her vagina and occasionally stabbing under her naval. anyone had anything like that???

I am having the same thing! I had my first chemo treatment taxol.carbo on Thursday. Last night I started to have pain in my knees and ankles. The stabbing pain comes and goes....Good luck
Wow, I never had any reaction like that to my treatments. Sounds like she might be having an allergic reaction, sometimes medications has to be adjusted to each person, I defintely would check into it. Usually, for me anyway, 3 days or so discomfort, food tasting bad, stomach just not right, the chemo does move around some as it attacks certain parts of your body, but not stabbing pains for me. I would call the oncologist for sure. Good luck!
I had my first chemo a week and a half ago. I also had pain in calves and knees, but the worst in the ankles. It was more of an aching pain for me. I didn't have any internal pain, maybe that is related to her surgery. The pain went away after about a week, but I still have neuropathy/tingling in the feet. Your daughter should feel free to contact her oncologist any time. Mine is happy to offer lots of pain meds to try. I hope she is feeling better soon.
I had similar feelings with my first treatment of carbo/taxol. I didn't have the same experience with my later treatments. Only the first. The others were different but still no picnic. That was 11 years ago.
The only pain I have ever had associated with cancer was immediately post-op and for the days after. The joint pain sounds pretty normal, but the stabbing pain does not. I would put in a call to the doctor.
I had the occasional stabbing pains too but not with every treatment and it didn't last.

I have pretty significant bone pain for about 3 days after my Neulasta shot, but you didn't mention if your daughter is having to take those to keep her wbc count up.
Chemo does do a number on your bone marrow, and as some of the ladies above mentioned, you want to be alert for signs of neuropathy.
Have her contact her doctor's office so they are aware of these side effects. As long as they are temporary, it sounds like she'll be fine. At the very least, the doctor's office can recommend an appropriate pain reliever.

Your daughter needs to call her doctor right away and tell him. He needs to know what reactions she gets and will either know why or investigate the cause. Nausea and aches are common with all chemos, but I never had any reaction like the pain you describe. Did she have surgery pre-chemo? She has to tell the doctor about the pain in case it's related to that.
Sometimes stabbing pains are from residual tumor dying. Surgery only removes what can be seen or felt. There is always microscopic tumor left behind. Of course, if the pain persists or gets worse, call your doctor ASAP.
The muscles, joints, and nausea are not unusual. I had them too. With any serious pain, I think a physician should be contacted.
I would contact the doctor. I never had those symptoms while going through chemo.
I would definitely call the doctor. After my first treatment, I felt more of a burning pain at a spot inside my abdomen. I asked my doctor about it and it was at a spot where he removed some cancer. He said that the pain was likely to be the chemo irritating an unhealed area. I never had pain after that.
Her pain sounds just like the pain I experienced--terrible pubic area bone pain along with pain in legs, knees, shoulders and arms. Ibuprofen did not help but the Vicodin left over from my surgery did a great job.
My oncologist assured me that the bone pain would lessen in succeeding treatments and that was exactly true. I just completed cycle 6 of Taxol/Carbo without any pain. Take care.
