WHATS IN YOUR BAG? CHEERS!

So there I was, minding my own business, when this off the wall (or should I say, off the bag) idea came to mind. You see, It just so happens that earlier this month I celebrated my one year out of Ileostomy surgery. And it just so happens that it landed on the same week of “ostomy awareness day”. And it just so happens that our Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta lands around the same week. And we tend to have these wild and crazy tail gating parties out on the field after the flying events to celebrate a successful and beautiful morning of ballooning with all our friends, pilots and crew members from around the world. We also like to toast a little champaign and have a couple cold beers.

So back to my goofy idea – me and my loving wife, Lisa like to have a good laugh with the others all in fun. I lend her one of my extra back ups (bag & wafer) and she secretly puts it on and fills it with the bubbly of her choice. In this case, some Chardonnay Wine. It gets better folks. So as we all are having a great time sharing the beautiful morning, with cheers to a great time, Lisa asks one of her friends to help her pour a glass of wine. She hands the glass to her friend (who has no idea what to expect) and has her hold it while she lifts the side of her shirt and opens her bag to pour the wine into the glass. And that my good friends, is a BIG CHEERS TO OSTOMY AWARENESS DAY. Lisa had a chance to experience what it was like to have a full bag and a good time was had by all. ;o) -

CHEERS to my inspiring friends,
BigDaddy

Your wife is so lovely and I thought looked so sane. Now I know better LOL. "What happens at Fiesta" will never be believed. I wish I had been with you when this happened, but again perhaps I would have hurt myself falling down that hard.

Hey Balloonatic Ben, Let's get together again soon. Keep me posted on what's happening. We will launch again soon after you are ready.

LMFAO :) You are the master
I love it

Hey BigDaddy....

You & your wife are awesome!!! So needed this great laugh after a rough week (dealing with my Miss Thang not feeling well lol). I could picture the looks on faces close by......I'd be rolling on the ground laughing crying so hard my sides hurt!! lmao!!!!!

YOU and Lisa and your friends are all loonatics! Love it!

They let the crazies out of the padded cells at least once a year. You two must have been the first to escape. Sounds like a wonderful joke. I would have hurt from laughing so hard. TOO FUNNY!!!
Blessings,
Alan

awesome! You both are definately an inspiration to me.

Hi Big Daddy and Lisa: I could just picture that one! Laughter heals big time. You're better than a bottle of pills. That's a compliment. kouneli (of the mysterious, missing cherry pit.)

BigDaddy-Rosebud,
That is just too funny. I would have loved to see that.
I've been to the Balloon Fiesta many times and I know how fun it can be.
Coronado Campground is where I spent my winters when I came down out of the Pecos Santa Fe National Forest, and a lot of ballooners stay there because it's so convienient to the airfield and balloon park. I know the park staff very well there.
Thanks for the memories as well.
Michael

Wow........Loved reading this. Made my day for sure. LOL

BigDaddy, I love your new photo- you and your wife are one good looking couple! And it's obvious that she is as wild and crazy as you are! Thanks for your story, it made my day!

Hi BDR,

Cool Photo!!

You and your wife have a great sense of humor! I really like
your wife sticking the wafer and pouch on and filling it with some
Chardonnay Wine!! Priceless!

It gave me a good laugh when I needed it! Thanks!

People should 'wear' a wafer and pouch and fill it with what ever
so they can understand, relate and be more sympathetic to what
individuals with ostomies go through daily!

God Bless,
Joe-R

Hi BDR, Who knew there were other uses for the bag. Now its a concealed wine pouch. As my husbands caregiver, when i try a new sample, i fill it with water and put it on myself first just in case it doesnt stay on i wont have such a mess to clean up. I dont think id have the nerve to play such a joke on others, but you pulled it off so congratulations. You and your wife must lead an interesting life.
