travel size room deoderizor spray?

I had my ileostomy one year ago next month. My friends convinced me to book a short cruise with them in December. I will be sharing a bathroom. Does anyone know where I can by a small spray bottle deodorizer to use after I change/empty the bag? Thanks!

Bath & Body Works has small spray bottles with some great scents!

Hi Zenaprincess
I dont know if these items work but I have seen something called 'Just a Drop' which you put in the loo before you empty and also there is a product I saw in my suppliers store that you put a couple of drops in the bag, these coupled with a scented spray may be just the thing. I would ask your supplier or google, hope this is of some help.
Anyway enjoy your cruise I am a big fan of cruising hoping my next one will be Hawaii.
Mike.

You can use " just a drop" (It works) or m9 drops (you can buy thru hollister and thru Amazon. a larger bottle and then you put them in a tiny Visine bottle. BUT mark a big X on the litle Visine so you dont, get confused. You place a few drops in the topilet about 45 seconds before you empty and it absorbs odors. I do use them in the bag too. Enjoy your cruise! Then can you can use the little bottles of Febreze or the" Bath and body works" mini sprays in the restroom!

also you may want to get the black zip lock bags from

I just got some and they are a heavier plastic so nothing shows through and the smell is lessened. Just a suggestion

I find striking a match often clears away odors.

I use M9 drops by Hollister and swear by them. I get an empty travel bottle not a spray but flip top, you can find them at Bed Bath and Beyond or CVS. I always have it in my purse. When I travel, depending on how many days I will be away, I bring the M9 8oz bottle with me so I can fill up my travel bottle when I need to.

Thanks to all who responded. One last question (hope it doesn't sound dumb), do those of you who use M9 drops put them in the bag before it is emptied, or in the toilet after you empty? Can you "spray" the bathroom with a solution? The closer the cruise gets, the more nervous I become. I wondering if there is anything else I need to prepare prior to departure.
Anyway, thanks again!

Not a dumb question at all! You put M9 drops in your bag after every time you empty it. It works neutralizing the odors in your stool so when you go to empty your pouch there really isn't any odor. I probably put at least 5-10 little drops it my pouch every time I empty. I can't see it doing much at all if you put drops in the toilet then emptied but maybe someone else has experience with that.

I have also read many posts that people really like Na'Scent. I thought I had sent away for a sample but never received it. People talk about using tic tacs and other items but I have never tried them. M9 has always worked for me. It's kinda pricey but my insurance pays for a portion and I would never be without it.

When I first had my surgery 20+ years ago I didn't know this product existed and I would be very embarrassed to empty my pouch anywhere but home. When I started using it, it changed everything. You can figure out how much you need to put in to eliminate your odor. Call hollister for a sample.

Fabreeze has a little to go bottle. Very Slim about 2.5" tall. It's intended for fabrics but is very strong. One little spritz over the bowl does the whole room. Walmart by the checkout is where i got mine.

I tried Na'Scent but found it did not make any difference to the door that comes from my appliance. I use Febreeze spray in the bathroom after I empty and it does make a difference but does not cover all of the smell. I am going to have to look for something else.
Do your friends know that you have an ostomy? If they do know then perhaps they won't be bothered quite so much with the smell as you are.
I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. I am quite jealous as I love to cruise and travel but since being off work from my surgery I have no vacation days until next year. Oh well, I can always dream.
Bon Voyage

Hi Lilymyiley,
thanks for your encouragement. Yes, they know I had surgery and you are probably right that it bothers me more than it will bother them. I plan on taking a small travel spray bottle and fill it with a nice scent of some sort. I hope you will be able to take a vacation one day soon.

Simple Trick: Put a tictac in your bag after every dump. It works. No smell. One inconspicuous container. No drops no sprays. Voila. Check this out. No joke. I'm thrilled. :)

Hi Guys!

I posted this before, but am not sure if it was received by our group...so here goes again.

The best thing I have found to clear the air is a product called Medi-aire. It is a biological odor eliminator and comes in 1 ounce spray bottles...great for travel and carrying in a purse or pocket. It is used by hospitals for stinky rooms, which is how I found out about it. It is sold by Edgepark as well as other suppliers of our necessary goodies and comes in several pleasant scents. I use it in my bathroom on a daily basis.

I just purchased Medi-aire after reading about it. I think it is a good product. Smells a bit like bug spray. But it totally covers the gassy (fart smell) and needs just a few squirts! Might be worth getting it, place in small bottles for the cruise.
