I wrote to you all a month of so ago when I joined this group. At that time I was ready to have the ostomey op. I was operated on Sept 24th and spent 15 days in the hospital. My surg. was about 4 1/2 hrs. What I ended up having was " laparoscopic partical colectomy with anastomosis" meaning that the Dr. only took out the damage part of my colon and reorganized the intestines. Well I found out I do not have Crohn's witch I was tagged with from some DR. years ago, But I have Diverticulites and this was the cause of the infection. I can't believe it that after all these year no one ever caught it. I also have ulcerated colitus and this I have know most of my life. I am on my way to healing. No energy and the diarreia will always be with me. I have to wear pull ups because until my body adjust I have no warning for the diarreia flow. I am trying out food to see what I can tolerates and what I can't. My main concern is to put on weight, I have lost almost 25 lbs. over the past year because of the infection. Does anyone have a quick fix for weight gain. I look into the mirror and I scare myself because my face is soooo thin plus every thing else. I know the road to recovering is long but maybe I will now be living a longer life in good health. I am 72 yrs. old and have lived with colon problems most of my lfe. It all begain when I was 18 yrs, old. Happy to have every thing in back of me and ready to face what might be ahead.
