Are you able to get the advice of an ostomy nurse? I don't think I'd try it without one talking me through it.

Cymed has a video up for irrigation done by a patient. He says his works best with body temp water but others get better results with different temp water.

I use warm (NOT HOT) water. It seems to stimulate things some.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g14kbuw1fU8 - watch this youtubevideo of Brian in NZ - he does it great.. but you want to use warm water - should be body temperature ... start with 500 -1000 cc water - administer slowly while seated on toilet... I wrote an article on how to irrigate in The Phoenix (journal of the United Ostomy Association) .. you can probably buy it on-line at www.phoenixuoaa.org. The goal is to train your bowels to release on command and NOT leak in between .. wear a regular pouch for the first 2 weeks to make sure you don't have any output. Good luck!
