Hi Patty,

I can't imagine his angst over this.. or your's!! I know that mony issues are huge for those of us who are sick and need meds or supplies.. Good Luck!!

I just did a quick search and came up with this site.. Hope it can help him in some way!!!
•Takeda Patient Assistance Program.... address link below

As well as this one:... http://www.needymeds.org/

My prayers are with you, your brother and your family's!!

Mary

I agree with Mare. As a diabetic myself I know all about insulin. Is the insulin not lasting all month? I used needymeds years ago for other medicine and they delivered a 3 month supply to my door I think for around 5 dollars. Get the dr to prescribe more insulin than actually needed. It's not cheating because most diabetics have to tweak the dosage occasionally due to stress, illness or diet changes. Google his brand of insulin as most have patient assistance programs. Some are simple and some are almost too complicated to mess with. Diabetes is big business and these companies will want your brothers business. There are lots of programs out there. What brand does he use? Bottle and syringe or pen? Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks so much i let my brother know and he is going on the site now. thanks

Hi Patty,

I am sorry to here your brother is going thru all of this. My sister n law is a diabetic and is on an insulin pump, I am not sure what would happen if she didn't get her medicine. Couple things, how old is your brother and are your parents alive with insurance? I ask this because with Healthcare Reform if he is under 26 and your parents have insurance thru their employer he could possibly get on it. In your state do you have something along the lines of Medicaide. State assisted insurance. Would he be able to apply for Disability?

I wish the best for him and your family and will be in my prayers. Please keep us updated.

JRo

Sorry you both are going through this. I also was going to suggest Medicaid and possible getting Disability. Hope the colonoscopy goes well tomorrow with good results. xox terri

he is 50 years old they will not give him disability or help with medicaid he has tried most of those avenues thanks

Patty... How did he make out with the web sites I gave you yesterday, for him to seak help from??
I'm sure it is very scary and concerning for both of you!!

havent talked to him yet but i will let you know

I also have diabetic with no insurance. My doctor told me about Patient Assistance Program. His office fills out the paper work for the insulin, that I use. I receive 3 mts. supply at his office. This does not cost me any money. Have your brother or you check with the doctor about the assistance program. Hope this helps, and he gets better.

i will tell him do you know what company it is

Pattigail, I use 2 different insulins. One is Levemir by Novo Nordisk Patient Assistance Program phone 866-310-7549. The other is Humalog by Lily 800-821-0538. Hope this helps.

Have you tried the Patient Advocate Foundation? PAF will be an advocate between patient and everyone else. Your brother is in my prayers.
