Back to work and so tired

I started back to work on 8/15, and I am so tired all the time now that I spend my days off in bed. I only have to make it until October 15, the end of the season, so I am telling myself that I can do it. But my husband does everything around the house except cook. He goes to the grocery store, cleans the house, does laundry, washes dishes, and anything else that needs doing including changing my appliance. I spend my time sitting at my computer or in bed, that is all.

I want my old life back, or at least as close to it as I can get. My surgery ordeal and hospital stay was from May 10 thru June 13 of this year, so I am in reality only 4 months post surgery, but I had surgery 5 times while I was in the hospital. I think it is going to take a long time to recover, but I am tired of being tired and being in pain.

hi Sweetheart, I am so glad to hear from you again, but sorry it is bad news. Hon I had the very same surgery for the same reasons and I am going on a year and I do not have my old life back yet. My doctors said with the infectiion I had it would take longer to heal. Sometime over a year. So I just go with it and rest and do what I can till I get back to normal.

I know you have to work and I cannot imagine how you are doing it. I keep you in my prayers and thoughts hon.
Take care and hang in there
God bless you
Dolly

Some nights I just lay in bed and cry, and my husband doesn't know what to do or say. I have to work, yes. But only until the end of the season here, and then I can go home and figure out an easier on me way to make a living.

So sorry you are feeling this way, but very normal. Many nights I cried and cried. I promise you this-it will get better. I know you are tired o hearing this, but it is true. You had major surgery and it takes a long time to heal. I am sorry you have to work, but just think YOU ARE WORKING!!! Did you think you would be able to do that this soon? Please give yourself all the time you need. You will probably never be the same again. I know I never will be. Kudos to your hubby for being such a great help. Try to focus on the positives like sitting at your desk and working. Seek professional help if needed. I did and it helped a lot. Good luck to you and keep up the good work. I hope all your pain and troubles go away.

I think that if was sitting at a desk it might not be so tiring, but I work at the entrance station to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. I am standing on my feet all day, greeting visitors. I love the job, but it is really wearing me down. And yes, my husband has been wonderful through it all. He knows he almost lost me, and he tells me every day how much he loves me. He will not let me do anything at all at home, because he knows I have to finish up the season in this job. I keep telling my self it is "only" three more weeks.

Fabgrandma, so good to see a post from you again. It's been awhile.
I'm sorry you are having such a time with work and all. But only three more weeks. I know that can sound like a lifetime but it isn't. I know you're tired. I would be too. There's no way I could have gone back to work so soon. Of course, I'm retired so I don't have to work.
Hang in there for just a little while longer. Keep us posted, please.
Blessings,
Alan

My hat off to you. You must be one really strong person to be back to work after all you went through. It does take a year or more to get your strength and stamina back. So glad to hear that your husband is there helping you.

Normal is always changing as we go through life. We just do not expect our normal to change so abruptly with an ostomy. Things will get to normal, but it will be a new normal. I hope the next three weeks go fast and you rest at every chance you can to get through it.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Be good to you
Lois

Hi Fabgrandma, Its good to hear you are holding up and getting through the season at your job. It will be over before you know it. Ill be praying you find something more to your liking. It sounds hot there. Be sure to keep up on your hydration. I havent made it to the canyon yet. Maybe i will sometime, God willing. How about throwing a rock in for me. LOL Your husband sounds like a great guy......lucky you. Ive got one too. Watch your step out there and get all the rest you can. God bless you and your hubby, stay well,
Carey

I love my job at the Nort Rim--we are at 8800 ft elevation so it doesn't get hot here but you are right, it is arid. I do drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Im just tired and still have pain. I just want the season to be over so I can go home and rest all winter.
