your infusion company / heard of ThriveRX?

0 Recommendations

Anyone heard of a home infusion/healthcare company called ThriveRx? My GI doc would like to me to try this company. We've both been increasingly unhappy with my current home health company. They've had increasing nurse turnover (because of some problems in upper management, who apparently are interested mostly in cost-cutting measures at patient care expense, which is kind of scary), copies of my labs aren't always going to the doctors they are supposed to (and as I'm on a blood thinner, that info is critical), and some other issues. As well, my particular home health agency will have nothing to do with my J tube. They strictly care for my PICC line (drawing blood and changing the dressing). This new company I was recommended, founded by nurses highly experienced in caring for patients like us, handles both PICC lines and feeding tubes and drainage J tubes. I'm just curious if anyone has heard of them. Again, they are called ThriveRx (you can check out their website). One of their staff is coming to my house tomorrow or Wednesday to inventory all the supplies I have (they'll even recommend better supplies if they think it would be beneficial, and they give you TWO pumps, if you're fed IV, so that you always have a back-up on hand) and talk with me about how they think they can help me better than my existing home care agency. If anyone's interested in how that goes, let me know and I'll post it.

I know one of the nurses -- she is wonderful.

Definitely want to know how it goes with this company!

ps our provider has been great with supplies and support. we have separate home care agency (i was amazed they don't have a nurse in our area). provider's accounting is getting so obnoxious i've been looking at others.

CP,

They are stopping by Friday, so I'll let you know how it goes. I need to switch. The company I'm with now, it's becoming increasingly obvious they are focusing most of their attention and energy on cost savings and less on patient care and continuity of care. And to me that's just not acceptable. Especially this rotating nurse thing. All of us with this particular home health care agency have a primary nurse. Makes sense. You see the same nurse week after week because they get to know you, you them, what needs to be done, etc. But my company has started 'experimenting' (without giving patients any advance warning), so sometimes you have no idea now WHO your nurse is going to be, or when they are going to come, until 10 pm the night before. A lot of people apparently complained though, so they dropped this particular 'experiment.' I realize times are tough financially for everyone, but I don't want to be part of anyone's "experiment." And I want to be with a home health care company that remembers I'm a PERSON first.

I'm changing companies also, Had too many problems. And they seem to have management problems also. Wrong dates on products. Billing for things I didn't receive, etc. Plus I have been allergic to something, we think a cetain brand of amino acids and they said they could not change and I've been suffereing thru and when they learned I was switching, they all of a sudden could GET the product. Guess it does come down to the money. Oh, That is great to have to pumps. We had problems with ours and also have to reprogram it everyday for the liquids. Ate batteries.

They said they wanted their back pack returned. They must recycle!! LOL I still have the same one from the other company I used years ago, just like it. I would have thought they would have billed the insurance co. for it?!

Good Luck, I have never heard of that co.

I am sure this is old news, but I just heard yesterday that ThriveRX is the new name of Nutrithrive - and I have heard NOTHING but amazing things about them. They know their stuff and know it well - are helpful and will work with you to troubleshoot until you find a workable solution to whatever issues you are having. I desperately wish we had companies like that up here - here...we fly solo.

Yes, ThriveRx is the new name/company formerly known as Nutrithrive. I saw my new ThriveRx nurse for the first time last week (actually she's with Equinox, not Thrive). Even she was stumped by my J tube; never seen anything like it. Plus, they aren't ostomy nurses, but infusion nurses, so their speciality isn't J or G tubes. As for Thrive, the people are really nice, but it seems that they are basically just a middleman. They don't actually do anything--they subcontract out the nursing and the TPN fills (or maybe it's just certain geographic areas they have to subcontract out the nursing, I'm not sure. Neither was my nurse). My nurse is actually employed by Equinox, and my TPN bags come from Equinox. So apparently ThriveRx subcontracts with Equinox, who actually tends to me. But what I think ThriveRx does (and why my GI doc wanted me to switch) is they trend all your lab results. They follow every single lab result carefully and tailor-make what goes into your TPN bags based on your labs each week, which apparently isn't typical for most infusion companies, I gather. I've been with them a week and they've already tweaked about 5 different things in my TPN, either upped or lowered certain lipids, etc. Plus they increased my infusion time because my potassium for some reason is dangerously low (according to last week's labs; it's like 2.1), so they've added more potassium and magnesium to my bags, which have to infuse over a longer time (3 more hours each night). My first day of switchover was bumpy, but I don't know who dropped the ball, Thrive or Equinox. Regardless, the nurse showed up with no idea of what labs were to be drawn on me because she hadn't been given that info (or much info on me). Luckily I request copies of all my lab results each week so I was able to give her a copy of last week's results and she just ticked off the necessary boxes on the form.

One thing I really think I'm going to like about Thrive is that first, they email you (if you want) your lab results in PDF format. Plus you have the choice each week, when you are ordering the next week's supplies, of doing it by email (by simply ticking off the needed items on a PDF form and sending it back to them) or over the phone (for those not comfortable doing it via email or without Net access). They all seem really nice though. The nutrition director flew out and came to my house the week before last to go over all my needs, situation, etc. Thrive apparently will go the extra mile to help come up with solutions (regarding infusion-related stuff), so that's a plus. I believe they are also going to see if they can find an ostomy nurse who will come to the house periodically to check on my J tube, etc.
