Which company? Which pump? Any teenagers out there?

Hello everyone,

We are searching out which Home health company to use when my dd goes home.

We have a few questions for you all please,

(1) What kind of pump do you prefer? It looks like she will be on the Osmolite Bottle, no cans for bolus feeds as she has a J tube and the Dr told us she can not have bolus with the J tube. So we need a p ump that will work with a plastic rectangle bottle.
(2) What kind of company do you use? A nationwide one or a local one? Pros and cons to both if anyone has them please.
(3) What are some 'tricks of the trade" or 'tips' you have learned from experience and WISH YOU'D OF KNOWN ABOUT SOONER? Can you share those with us so we will know about them now?

(4) Are there any teenagers out there with a J tube that would like to communicate with my daughter Shea? If so please contact her through her caringbridge page. www.caringbridge.org/visit/shea

Thanks!
Anything else we should know about? Please share.

Hi LQ,

I think I told you about Nutrithrive before. http://www.nutrithrive.com/ Read the testimonials. They have been so wonderful and caring since I switched to them. They are a smaller company but very patient oriented. I don't know if they would service Texas or not. I would definitely suggest calling them as soon as possible. They may be able to recommend another similar company. Apria has good service for the most part, but they are not patient oriented and they are very money hungry if you have to pay copays or anything. Not the best quality.

I would highly suggest the EnteraLite Infinity by Zevex Therapeutics for a pump. I have tried others and this one is by far the best. It is little and easy to carry and operate. With most pumps you will have to use a special bag that comes with the pump and dump the Osmolite into it. Nutrithrive was so helpful in showing me how to use this pump and getting everything set up for me. They are really great and if you are able to go with them I know it would be an asset to Shea's care.

Good luck,
Jen

i use Optioncare here in the seattle area. not by choice its just who my plan uses. we have used them for about 5 years now with no problems. they are owned by walgreens.
