Total lack of energy

0 Recommendations

Hi my name is Wendy, 42 yrs old, I have have my peg for just over a year. I just don't seem to have many days of having any energy and feel as though I'm running on empty most days. I had peg fitted due to radiotherapy damage from neck cancer.

Does any one else feel like this?

Thanks

Wendy

Cancer Radiation therapy

Hello Wendy,

Have you talked to your doctors about your lack of energy? Has you iron level been checked? I wonder if your body is still recovering from the radiation therapy. Are you getting enough fluids and calories?

Just some idea's. I hope you find something to help you.

Blessings,

Lesley a/k/a NinaBean

I have been on enteral for 4 years...the first three had me lose nearly 90 pounds ( better than a trip to Jenny Craig...I neeeded to lose a few) but the real issue was no energy and I was tired all the time. I was pumping 4000 cal of Nutren 2.0 a day! And to boot, as I am J tube fed and only able to pump at @ 160ml/hr max...I was married to the pump.

A year ago it was eveident I just was not getting the absorbsion I needed. Even with all kinds of tyroid and metabolic tests nothing came in as a red beacon. I was switched to Petamen 1.5--a ELEMENTAL DIET- and that made all the difference. (There are several differnt products--mine has MCT oils which my body seems to like...) I slowly gained about 15 pounds but more improtantly I no longer needed naps adn had some "get up and go."

Every case if different so medically you will have to ask your doc or dietitian--but my point is never take "let's wait and see" as an answer from them. No one offered it--it was as a result of speaking to Dr Howard at eh 08 Oley Conference that I knew what to ask for. My Doctor was waiting to see if I "healed" and just started eating again....duh.

Let me know how it goes.....

Good luck....

Thank you both for your replies will look into getting bloods done and am seeing dietician and new consultant next few weeks. The last food change was due to vomiting food back but not doing that now so perhaps can change to new food for more energy.

Would be lovely to stay awake !!

Thanks Wendy
