Roux-en-Y jejunostomy button

0 Recommendations

Emily has had a G-J tube for 4 years. She had a mickey button for 6 years prior to that. I liked the Mickey button because I could change it myself. We had to go with the G-J tube because she needed to vent the air off her tummy. We have had no problems other than the balloon
busting in the middle of the night and having to load up to go to the hospital. In the last 4 weeks we have had 6 (yes,I said 6) tube's put in. Some have lasted 2 days some last a week. Kimberly Clark (the company that makes it) is investigating. Now to my question. I need information on a Roux-en-Y jejunostomy button. Does anyone have any
info.?????? To my understanding, She would keep the feeding port she
has now we would just put a mickey button back in there. Then this is
the part I'm dreading, They would make a new port for another mickey
button that would go straight to her bowel. She would feed through one
and vent through the other. Then I could change both and no more
trips in the middle of the night. If only it was as easy as it sounded!! I just hate to put my child through another surgery.
Any advice would be great.

Thanks
