My 22 month old baby has had a central line (catheter) since he was about 1 month old. They recently did a chest x-ray and recommend replacing it. They said this is due to growth/movement of the veins. He hasn't had any line infections. I was wondering if it's common to replace a line after 2 years (for a baby)? We talked to someone in Europe whose kid had his line for 4+ years and just wanted to compare notes. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
