Adverse reaction to meds?

0 Recommendations

So as I've stated before I've been having some pretty serious nausea. Anyways I've been looking for medications that will lower the nausea, but so far only mairjuana works, but hey its better than nothing.
Actually the reason I am posting this is I've been wondering if anyone has had bad reactions to all the meds we have to take. I have to take enough meds that have advrse reactions to the drugs is bound to happen every once in a while. Yesterday I tried haldol for my nausea which is an antisphychotic but is used for nausea in europe like we use gravil. I had a terrible reaction. I was feeling extremely anxious, especially my limbs so I couldn't get to sleep. I had taken about 2 doses and then there was enough drug in my system for things to go bad. My jaw locked up. It was so bad it actually felt like my jaw was going to break. I went to emergency at a quiet hospital in the suburbs of town and they gave me something to fix it. But man did it suck, and I was freaking out because the drug had already made me anxious. I'm home now can't sleep but incrdibly relieved my jaw is back to normal, except for a bit of swelling.
So, anyone else have adverse reactions to meds?

All of the anti-nausea meds, and especially neuroleptic meds like Haldol can cause some pretty "funky" reactions. Since these medications act on the receptors of the brain that also control nerve impulses and voluntary movements, they can cause out of control impulses in the brain that cause involuntary body movements, muscle contractions, tremors, and so forth. I just got off of Domperidone which I was only on for 4 weeks, and instead of weaning me off, the doctor had me stop cold turkey. Well, now I'm stuck with these constant muscle twitches and jerks-the doctors are not sure yet it they are minor seizures or dystonia, or just plain twitches. So unfortunately for most of us on this forum who depend heavily on nausea meds, we're at risk for these possible reactions.
MOST OF THE TIME, these reactions are short lived and eventually go away after discontinuing the drugs-may take weeks to a few months.
Good luck in finding one that works for you! I've read some posts about using natural remedies. If you haven't already, maybe give those a shot!

I forgot to say if the marijuana is working for you-great! I always say those drugs should always be accessible to chronically ill patients.
